As the Anaheim Ducks take the ice in another road game, read why another home underdog is getting our money tonight as our bankroll continues to grow with our NHL pick.

It feels so good to be playing with 'House Money' as the Columbus Blue Jackets gave our bankroll another boost with their overtime victory as a +108 underdog. The public is not on our side tonight but that usually means good things for our bets. We'll get to our game in a bit but let's get caught up with betting trends in the National Hockey League and how it applies to tonight's schedule.

A few interesting trends are starting to solidify especially when betting home teams. Home cooking has produced a 123-60-4-8 record good for a 63.08% but if you add home favorites to the mix the win percentage is even better at 65.54%. If you're looking for some value with a home favorite tonight the Montreal Canadiens may be worth a look as this number as Los Angeles Kings money has started to pour in, mostly because people are starting to believe in the Kings again and the plus number looked way too attractive against a team that was beat 10-0 a short time ago.

Underdog puck line bettors have been cashing at a 66.67% rate if you're willing to put up a little money for the extra insurance. This may look like an attractive option but scanning tonight's schedule shows us the price you'll have to pay just to get the insurance. The Columbus Blue jackets are the best option tonight on the SBR Odds page but as you can tell you'll have to lay -191. You know that's way too big of a price to pay.

After a slow start defenses are starting to catch up to the offense as 'unders' continue to pour in, cashing at a 53.37% rate.  If I was a 'totals' player I may pass on tonight's card as it appears it will be a heavy 'over' schedule.

Now on to tonight's play.

The Anaheim Ducks decided not to have a morning skate today are still where I need them to be in order for me to back them on the road.  Wednesday was a perfect example of how they've changed as a organization since Bruce Boudreau's departure.  Last season under Boudreau, who was let go in the offseason, the Ducks would have smothered the Blue Jackets defensively. This year the Ducks fell behind early and couldn't quite climb ahead as they dropped a 3-2 OT loss to Columbus.  I'm backing the Hurricanes as my NHL pick at plus money tonight as the public is only looking at the injury to Justin Faulk to back the Ducks. Not us, let's cash again tonight.
