There are seven games on the ice this Monday and we’ve got four of the games covered for you. We’ve got a separate preview up for the Colorado Avalanche-Calgary Flames showdown and below are three more NHL picks and previews for you:

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Odds: Blackhawks -165
The Hurricanes offense has completely gone cold as they’ve managed just six goals in their last five games. That’s a fairly big drop-off considering they had averaged 3.5 goals per game in their eight previous contests.

The Blackhawks have proved to be a dead-under team this season and that includes this month. Chicago has seen five goals or less in six of their last seven games which is something you should consider when looking at the NHL betting odds. They’ve been an excellent defensive team all season long, giving up just 2.24 goals per game, which is third in the NHL. Look for their defense to help carry this game under the number.

Minnesota Wild vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Odds: Wild -200
The Wild continue to roll and the Maple Leafs continue to struggle, so there is little reason to believe anything will change on Monday. Yes, the Wild have cooled off a little bit as they are just 4-3 in their last seven but they’ve still won three of their last four with two wins over St. Louis and a win over Nashville. Those are two of the best teams in the NHL. As for the Maple Leafs, this is not a team that’s really on that level. Toronto has been one of the worst teams this season and is simply playing out their string of games right now. The Leafs enter Monday’s affair having lost five straight games and eight of nine. They have given up at least four goals in eight of their last nine games and the only time they didn’t give up four goals, they allowed three. In that span, they’ve allowed an average of 4.44 per outing, which is about as bad as it gets. That being the case, I’m expecting a Minnesota win here and I’ll lay the extra puck and see if they can win by two with my NHL picks.

NHL Pick:  Wild -1.5  at Bodog

San Jose Sharks vs. Ottawa Senators
Odds: Senators -138
The Senators are one of the hottest teams in the NHL and probably should be laying closer to -150 in this spot. That being the case, I’m going to take a shot with them here. Ottawa is on fire these days and enters Monday’s meeting on a six-game winning streak. They’ve won 14 of their last 16 games overall and are playing well at both ends of the ice. Although rookie goaltender Andrew Hammond has given up seven goals in his last two outings, he’s still 13-0-1 with a 1.65 GAA this season.

On the flip side, the Sharks are a struggling outfit. When you look at the standings, they are 11th in the Western Conference with just 10 games to go. They have a lot of work to do to catch up. However, they’ve lost three of their last four and are a miserable team right now. They know their season is a wrap.

Take the Sens here as they should keep on rolling.

NHL Pick: Senators -138 at Pinnacle
