Monday’s NHL card features just four games on the schedule. We’ve got three of them covered below and the lone other game, the Montreal-Los Angeles showdown, is sectioned off into its own preview.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Dallas Stars

The Sabres are worth a look here as Ted Nolan has his guys playing pretty well right now. They’ve won three in a row with wins over Carolina, Boston and San Jose.

Dallas is a very hit-or-miss team, which should really make you think twice about laying this kind of number on the NHL odds. They’ve dropped three of their last five at home and simply aren’t worth the price tag here.

NHL Pick: Sabres +183 at Pinnacle

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Two struggling teams will square off in this one as the Leafs have lost three straight while the Blue Jackets have dropped three of four. Keeping their opponents from scoring has been a real issue for both sides as the Blue Jackets have allowed 13 goals over their last four while the Maple Leafs have nine goals in two games since coming back from their Olympic break.

At this point, the best choice is the over as neither team is doing enough on the defensive end to make you believe this will be a low-scoring game. Take the over with your NHL picks.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at Bodog

Calgary Flames vs. Minnesota Wild

Minnesota is on a bit of a roll right now as they’ve won four straight games. They key for them has been goaltending and defense as they’ve given up just four goals in their last four games. That could be a problem for Calgary as the Flames have scored just three goals in their last three.

The price on the Wild is too high, so I’ll instead go with the under. This should be a 2-1 type of game.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at 5Dimes
