Our resident NHL handicapper shares his two top totals on Tuesday. Join us in reading this insightful betting preview article focusing on the games between the Hurricanes/Capitals & Rangers/Jets.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Washington Capitals 7:05 PM ET
The NHL betting odds at 5Dimes have a posted total of 5.0 on this contest. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these Metropolitan Division rivals, and two of the previous three have gone under the total. As a matter of fact, the last two encounters produced final scores of 3-0 and 2-1.

The Carolina Hurricanes have seen just one of their previous nine games go over the total. The Canes have been a major contributor to those low scoring games, averaging just 1.8 goals per contest during that time. Cam Ward is slated to be between the pipes tonight for Carolina, and he’s been stellar of late, compiling a superb .933 save percentage in his last four starts. Carolina is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Boston in their previous game. The Canes have gone under the total in eight of nine games this season following an overtime loss.

Washington is coming off a 5-2 road win over the New York Rangers in their previous game. The Capitals have gone over the total in just eight of their last twenty-nine games (27.6%) after scoring five goals or more in its previous contest.

NHL Pick: Play on Carolina and Washington to go under the total of 5.0 at 5Dimes.

New York Rangers vs. Winnipeg Jets 8:05 PM ET
According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, the posted total in this contest is 5.5.

The New York Rangers have seen each of their previous five games go over the total. Today will be the Rangers third game in the last four days, and they’ve gone over the number in their last five when cast into that exact role.

The Winnipeg Jets have gone over the total in their previous three games. The Jets have gone over the number in eleven of their last fifteen games versus an Eastern Conference opponent. Winnipeg is coming off a gut wrenching 4-3 home loss to Chicago on Sunday. The Jets have surpassed the number in eighteen of twenty-five this season following a game in which they allowed four goals or more.

NHL Pick:  Play on the Rangers and Jets to go over the total of 5.5 at Bookmaker for your NHL picks.
