Capitals vs. Stars
The Stars, coming off a big revenge spot against Chicago, should be excited about getting an opportunity to measure themselves against the best in the league.

This figures to be a wide open game considering both teams propensity for offense. If that's the case I have to back the Stars who can score from anywhere in the offensive zone with consistency. That doesn't mean that I want you to bet the 'Over', it just means it will be a game with plenty of scoring chances. Dallas is very good at knowing where on the ice their teammates are as was the case last Wednesday in Chicago. They always look to get the puck in front of the net with the confidence that a Star will have position.

When Patrick Eaves was put on the first line, because of his ability to drive the net, it certainly made an impact on Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. It now gives each of them another offensive weapon making all three extremely dangerous on the top line

In this series the Stars have won eight straight against the Capitals including seven in regulation. They've already beaten the Caps in D.C. earlier, a feat only three other teams have done.

Jason Spezza is still out for the Stars but they have enough depth to overcome his abscense again.

Annti Niemi is listed as the Dallas starting goaltender but we'll back then even if Kari Lehtonen gets the start. Lehtonen has 81 saves in his last two games while allowing just five goals. He owns a 1.71 goals against average and seven straight wins against Washington.

Since 1995-96 the Washington Capitals are 4-19-2 in their last 25 meetings and only one of those victories have come in regulation. A change of scenery hasn't helped Washington either, since the Stars moved from Minnesota to Dallas, Washington is only 3-12 and have been outscored 56-30 in that span.

Washington Goaltender, Braden Holtby has never beaten Dallas is two starts with a high 3.91 goals against and a .857 save percentage.

Egveni Kuznetsov is expected to play for the Capitals after leaving Thursday's game after getting caught with a high stick. He has passed concussion protocol but we'll have to see if the teams leading scorer is 100%. If Kuznetsov is less than normal it makes the Caps center position more thin after they been hit by injuries. Mike Richards came in to center the second line of Justin Williams and Andre Burakovsky. Richards was questionable after a lower body injury suffered against Nashville. Center Marcus Johansson has just come back from an upper body injury.

The Stars have quite a streak going against the Eastern Conference. In their last 35 games against the East Dallas has won 25 including 20 of their last 28 against the Metropolitan Division. We're backing Dallas with our NHL picks in this one, where they are favorites in the NHL odds boards.
