The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Edmonton Oilers battle for draft position in this one; however, the Connor McDavid East Coast tour continues. Check the NHL picks for this game.

Oilers vs. Blue Jackets
The Edmonton Oilers will be play their third of a four game road trip. Tuesday in Buffalo, Edmonton snatched an overtime victory in which McDavid scored two goals, including the game winner. Then they shutout the Flyers 4-0 last night. Make sure you take into account specific components to choose the best option in the NHL.

Oilers' Sneak Peak
Any victory is a good one for the Oilers especially on the road where they've only won nine games all season (9-20-5). It's very hard to back them to win on the road any night, let alone, three games in a row and you know the bettors will be flocking to bet the Oilers because of their shutout of the Flyers. Before you do, let's forget the score for a second. The Flyers hit the crossbar numerous times for a total of 28 shots on goal over the last two periods. Edmonton is still 42-90 in their last 132 games so let's not go to the window with so much confidence that the Oilers are back

I've never been a huge game of goaltender, Cam Talbot, but between injuries and players who are just not good enough at their position, I'm not sure we've seen the best of Talbot. His 2.6 goals against is too high and his .917 save percentage is too low, but his last two games have been very impressive.
I just won't financially back a team who's had two of their top six D-men out with injuries. Oscar Klefbom (leg) has been skating but is not playing in this one and Eric Gryba has been placed on the IR with a knee injury. Gryba at 6-4, 228 is a big body to have out of your line-up. They need to be healthy in back to ensure Talbot is protected.

Blue Jackets Preview
John Tortorella and the Blue Jackets are quietly putting together their best run of the season with a 5-2-3 record over their last 10 with a 12-10-4 record at Nationwide Arena, including two straight. I'm sure they've heard all the hype about how strong Edmonton is now that McDavid is back. I think they have something to prove too as they would like to show off how well they've been playing.

They are clearly building around a young core with the plan being to win for years to come. The core represented by Brandon Saad, Boone Jenner, Ryan Murray, and Seth Jones are being surrounded with veteran leadership. Most of the time, when you start putting a young team together, it takes awhile for them to contribute offensively; this is not the case for Totorella. The Jackets are the only team in the NHL with four 20 goal scorers.

This will be a payback game from their previous meeting when the Oilers whipped the Jackets, 5-1, last month.

The First step to getting your team to another level is how you do against the teams you should beat. The Jackets have now won six of their last eight against teams with a win percentage less than .400. Check the NHL odds boards to make sure you are betting on the right team.

In their last 28 meetings in this series the home team has captured victory 21 times. That's enough T for me to back the Jackets in the NHL picks this time.
