The Boston Bruins played in an early game on Sunday and they’ll do so again on Monday as the Los Angeles Kings visit for a 3:00 PM ET start. One has to wonder if the Kings won’t be half asleep as the start time will be noon in their time zone, which is not a time they’re used to playing at. Will this factor in to where we look to place our NHL picks this afternoon?

The Los Angeles Kings Can Win Because….

The Bruins are in a funk right now. They lost again on Monday (in Chicago), which now makes it four losses in their last six games. It’s pretty clear something is not quite right with this team.

The main issues has been netminder Tuukka Rask, who looks fatigued these days. The Bruins ended up allowing three goals on Sunday, which now means they’ve allowed at least three goals in four of his last five starts. If Chad Johnson is in net, the Kings are the smarter play for your sports picks because they’ll have a huge edge in net. Jonathan Quick has won six of eight career starts against the Bruins while posting a 2.17 GAA in the process.

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because….

They thrive in this setting. They have won 16 of 20 games this season when playing at home with a total of five. They love to play these types of low-scoring, one-goal affairs because that is the type of game in which their team is built to succeed.

Los Angeles is having issues these days as they are just 4-3 in their last seven. That stretch followed up a five-game losing straight. When it comes to road games, this team has dropped five of their last six while being outscored 19-11. The Bruins are the better choice for your NHL picks because they should be able to take advantage of a West Coast team traveling to the east and playing in a very early, unorthodox time slot.

Outlook & Pick

The Kings look like they’re worth a shot here. They’re getting money on the NHL odds, the Bruins are struggling and they should have a huge edge in net if in fact Chad Johnson starts for the B’s. If that’s the case, take the Kings.
