The Oilers will host the Kings on Sunday at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with the opening face-off slated for 8:05 PM ET. Let's take a look at the NHL betting odds and decide on our pick from there!

According to NHL betting odds the Kings are a -145 money line road favorite and the posted total is 5.0. The Kings have won the last 4 in this series, and the home team has won 5 of the last 6 meetings between these teams. These clubs have seen just 6 of their last 26 meetings go over the total, including only 1 of the last 12 played in Edmonton. The Kings are currently 3rd in the Pacific Division, and 6th overall in the Western Conference. The Oilers are last in the Pacific Division, and last overall in the Western Conference.

Returning the Form

The Los Angles Kings enter tonight's game having won their last 6-games in a row. The Kings fans can take a deep sigh of relief after they saw their team lose 9 of 10-games prior to the current winning streak, while scoring just a combine 15-goals, and being shutout 3 times during that 10-game span. The Kings have allowed just 3-goals combined over their last 4-games. They've gone over the total in just 5 of their last 31-games overall. The Kings are best in the NHL allowing just 2.0 goals per game, and they also lead the NHL with 10 shutouts. Tonight will be the 2nd of a 3-game in 5-day road trip which will conclude tomorrow at Calgary.

Making the Best of a Bad Season

This has been unquestionably an extremely disappointing season for the Edmonton Oilers. However, they've earned at least 1-point in 9 of their last 11-games. The Oilers have gone under the total in the last 6, and have failed to go over the total in their last 9-games. They've allowed just a combined 21-goals over their last 11-games. Despite their recent defensive prowess over the last 11-games the Oilers are still next to last in the NHL allowing 3.2 goals per game. Tonight will be the final of a 5-game in 11-day home stand for the Oilers which has seen them go 2-2 thus far. Following tonight the Oilers will embark on a 4-game in 6-day road trip, and then will finish the regular season by playing 10 of their last 13-games at home.

Final Analysis

Both of these teams have been playing terrific defensively over the last couple of weeks. These teams have also had a long history of playing low scoring games. Although, I hate stating the obvious, sometimes logic just takes precedence over all else, and I like this game to have very little scoring for our hockey picks.
