The Kings are feeling the Anaheim Ducks paddling down their back, making tonight's match-up against the Blues all the more important. Don't miss our NHL picks for the night.

Kings vs. Blues
The Los Angeles Kings started their six-game road trip with a huge statement against the Boston Bruins, winning 9-2. Since that victory, the Kings have left a trail of inconsistency. Since, Los Angeles has lost three of four games managing only seven goals.

The positives are that it isn't like they haven't had their share of opportunities. The Kings dropped a 3-1 decision to the Capitals Tuesday, but they managed 40 shots on Philipp Grubauer. Against New Jersey, they were shutout 1-0 but clearly outplayed the Devils and against the Islanders they put 30 shots on Thomas Greiss. The Kings 2-3 road trip record could easily be 5-0.

Los Angeles is ninth in the league in scoring and should be better despite the recent loss of Marian Gaborik. Anze Kopitar is blazing hot with 31 points in his last 23 games, Dustin Brown has seven points in his last seven games and Milan Lucic has great size and can physically dominate a game. Let's not forget that they still have the core players that helped them win Cups in 2012 and 2014. Then they add Lucic who came with one Cup victory and one appearance.

The lack of Kings goals are only a matter of time. They are skating hard to the net, getting a ton of scoring chances. The Pittsburgh Penguins a couple weeks ago was the team that put the most pressure on opposing goaltenders, since, the Kings have to be considered the best. They put an average of 32.5 shots per game on goal. The Kings have eight players with a 100 or more shots on the season and are a +4.5 shots versus shots allowed. If the Kings win the special teams battle, they will easily win this game.

The Blues are a little shorthanded on defense while Alex Pietrangelo recovers from a knee injury. He's expected back sooner than expected but not for this one. His depature is putting more pressure on Kevin Shattenkirk and Colton Parayko to perform. Shattenkirk is a -11 and hasn't played well since the end of January.

I would also like to see them spend a higher percentage of time in their opponents offensive zones. It's getting better but not where Head Coach, Ken Hitchcock, would like it to be. The Blues have not had more than 30 shots in their last seven games.

Betting Analysis
Los Angeles has always been a safe bet against good teams. In their last 20 games games against teams with a winning record, they have a sparkling 15-5 record.

The Kings have dominated this series winning 19 of their last 26 against the Blues.

St.Louis is 7-15 in their last 22 games after allowing less than two goals in their previous outing. This means that the Blues have always had trouble carrying solid defensive efforts in back to back games.

If you're looking at the total, the 'Under' is a staggering 31-15-7 in the Blues last 53 games. Yet, with the NHL odds boards showing the Kings as a -105 favorite for our NHL picks, we're definitely going for that play for tonight's game.
