Kings vs. Canucks ML Pick

Canucks (-105) ★★★

The Kings have been backed by a strong puck possession game as they have climbed in the standings. Los Angeles ranks seventh in the NHL while getting 54.3% of score-and-venue-adjusted expected goals during five-on-five play.

Vancouver’s troubles this season have come from all angles. The Canucks are controlling just 47.2% of five-on-five score-and-venue-adjusted expected goals. Poor possession numbers paired with goaltending that has a league-worst .877 save percentage show that the Canucks have earned their subpar record.

One possible saving grace for the Canucks is that they have only played six games on home ice, so an extended run at home could help them get on track.

While DraftKings and Caesars have the Kings favored at -115, that leaves slightly more appealing value on the Canucks at -105. FanDuel has the Kings at -111 compared to -108 for the Canucks.

Kings vs. Canucks O/U Pick

Over 6.5 (-115) ★★★★

The Kings are recording above-average goals for and against per 60 minutes. On average, their games have a total of 6.61 combined goals per 60 minutes. However, that rate is falling, down to 5.34 goals per game across their past seven contests.

However, the Canucks are playing a freewheeling game, in part because of their shaky goaltending. For the season, Vancouver is averaging a total of 7.38 goals per 60 minutes. The Canucks hit a total of seven goals or more in seven of their past eight games.

DraftKings, Caesars, and BetMGM are all priced at -105 for the Over, slightly better than FanDuel (-106) and PointsBet (-110).

Kings vs. Canucks Prop Pick

Horvat Over 0.5 goals (+160) ★★★★

Canucks captain Bo Horvat is off to an amazing start, scoring 14 goals in 17 games. That includes five two-goal games. In six home games, he has six goals on 26 shots. Overall, Horvat does have at least one goal in nine of 17 games.

While the Kings are allowing 3.33 goals against per 60 minutes this season, their defensive performance has been improving. In the past seven games, the Kings are allowing 2.39 goals against per 60 minutes. However, the Kings have also been more vulnerable on the road, allowing 3.46 goals against per 60 minutes in 10 games.

Getting a red-hot Horvat priced at +160 for an anytime goal on DraftKings is a favorable value. That is slightly better than Horvat priced at +152 via FanDuel or +155 via Caesars and PointsBet.
