Nashville has dropped four straight games after a loss. What can you expect from them here?

Speed was supposed to be a factor in game four but when Nashville decide to become the aggressor it forced the Jets to beat them with quick, precision passes. Winnipeg was never able to get find any offensive rhythm allowing the Nashville Predators to even the series up at two games each.

Game five is scheduled for 9:30 ET/6:30 PT, Saturday Night at the Bridgestone Arena and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network, CBC (Canada), and TVAS (French).

No matter what side you’re on in this one it seems you can find value for each. According to the SBR odds page, which list their approved offshore books, you can find the Nashville Predators as low as -145 at Bovada or as high as -165 at Bookmaker after opening Nashville -160. There are a few options to get Winnipeg at +145 which is the number I’ll be looking for in game five.

It appears as if the ticket count will easily fall on the side of the Jets. As of now, 60% of the early tickets are coming in on Winnipeg and should remain that way with the plus money being offered on a team that many think will win the series, including me. With that being said, if you like the Predators, I would wait until game time to place your wager with the hopes that the count will drive the price down. On the flip side I bet the Jets already with the generous plus price.

I don’t have an opinion on the ‘total’ but with 5 of the last 7 meetings in Nashville going ‘over’ the number it’s surprising to me that this number has been bet under as definitively as it has. The opening number of 5.5 was shaded to the ‘over’ (-120) as it should have been but the public jumped all over the ‘under’ pushing it to -105 each way. Perhaps they saw the difficulty that Winnipeg had cutting through the neutral zone in game four is a factor but the reality is they will most likely dump the puck in more in an effort to use their speed. Teams will also not spread themselves out as far on the rush so there are quicker passes in transition until they find a seam created by proper positioning. Bettors overestimate coaches all the time. There is

a reason why coaches and managers make a ton of money and we overlook their value all the time unless you’re Bill Belichick.

From a trend perspective the Winnipeg Jets are riding an 8-0 streak when their opponents allow two goals or less in their previous game. That means Paul Maurice is a tactician that will find a way to create scoring chances Saturday Night.
