The New York Rangers travel to Carolina to take on the 'Canes in what looks like an easy winner but Champion Handicapper Dana Lane explains why the Rangers are surprisingly not the side to be on tonight.

It wasn’t hard to predict that the general public would jump on the New York Rangers, even on the road, against a poor Carolina Hurricanes team after the line opened at -130.  As of now, 72% of all tickets written have come in on the Rangers which is great because we’re going to grab the Hurricanes at even money.

Before you make any wager make sure to shop for the best available lines at all SBR approved sportsbooks here.

If the Hurricanes have any guts at all, they will give all they have to atone for a 3-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.  A loss that will embarrass any team so let’s see what Bill Peter’s team is made of.

The Rangers are 3-1 this month but this will be the fifth game in eight days and third in four days for New York. You have to wonder what kind of focus Alain Vigneault’s team who will have as their next two games are against very winnable opponents, Carolina and Detroit.  After road victories against Florida and Tampa Bay I wonder if there is anything left in the motivation tank considering the last five times New York played three games in four days they produced just a 1-4 record in that scenerio.

From a series perspective the home team in this series has won four straight.

The Rangers will be without Henrik Lundqvist who has a lower body injury and Rick Nash with an upper body injury.

Keep in mind, it was just last week when Peters tried to humiliate or perhaps inspire his troops after personally attacking Eddie Lack which led to Lack producing a 24 save, two goals allowed effort, in a loss to Colorado.  Even though his message wasn't directed at Cam Ward, tonight's starter, you can bet Ward internalized Peter's words.  Let's see if Peter's has inspired his team or if he's the captain of a sinking ship.

I wish I could explain how hard it is to write 400 words on why the Hurricanes are the play tonight but honestly it’s just a feeling.

After you’re done reading this get over to our brand new ‘Puck Heads’ video where I have three additional NHL Picks on SBR.
