The Preds are a small favorite on the NHL betting in Edmonton tonight as they face the streaking Oilers. With just two games in the NHL on Wednesday night, bet with care.

The Nashville Predators Can Win Because…
The Oilers can’t really keep this up, can they? The Oilers looked horrendous in losing their first five games of the season. Fans were calling for the coach’s head and the front office to make all sorts of changes. Now after a good week, everything is better? Unlikely.

The Preds will offer a stiff test for the Oilers as they have only lost in regulation once this season. They have been in every game and have been much improved over last season. Goaltender Pekka Rinne is shining like the Vezina Trophy candidate he is with a 1.81 GAA and a .932 save percentage.

The Oilers are a fraud and Nashville will take advantage. The Oilers have yet to win a game against a Western Conference foe (0-4-1) and their winning streak has allowed bettors to get in on Nashville at a cheaper price on the NHL betting lines. A week ago, Nashville would have been -175 in this spot. Now you get them at a much better price.

The Edmonton Oilers Can Win Because…
They are hot right now. The Oilers have won four straight and have been playing really well at both ends of the ice. They have allowed just seven goals in their last four games but have scored 15 goals themselves. They are dominating opponents. Their latest win was a 3-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens, who had been the best team in the NHL to date. Goaltender Ben Scrivens has won four straight starts and was named the NHL’s second star of the week. He’s posted a 2.33 GAA and .920 save percentage over his last three outings.

The Oilers were horrible to start the season but they’ve rebounded. They deserve a look in this spot as a home underdog.

Outlook & Pick
The Oilers should be the play in this game not only because they are playing so well right now but because they own Nashville too. Remember, the Oilers have been one of the worst teams in the NHL over the last few seasons but even so, the Oilers won all three meetings last season and seven of the last 10. Rinne is just 2-4-0 versus Edmonton with a 3.30 GAA and .872 save percentage. Take the Oilers for your NHL picks tonight – especially as a home dog.
