The Dallas Stars have a game vs Vancouver on Friday night and prior to that they took a wild 7-4 loss at the hands of Ottawa, which was just their 5th loss of the year. Check our NHL pick.

Dallas Loses High Scoring Game to Ottawa
The Dallas Stars have had some high scoring games the year because that have plenty of offense and a mediocre defense. On Wednesday night they were involved in another high scoring game in a 7-4 home loss to the Ottawa Senators. The loss snapped the Dallas five game winning streak ad it was just their 5th loss of the year. Jamie Benn continues to produce for the Stars and had two goals in the loss and he now has 16 goals on the year, which leads the league. Tyler Seguin also had a goal in the loss and now has 12 goals on the year, with is tied for 4th in the league.

Taking the loss in the game was Antti Niemi, who got the start and allowed five goals before getting pulled in favor of Kari Lehtonen. Niemi is now 8-4 on the year with a 2.64 GAA. He should get the start in this game as well and is 8-5 with a 1.90 GAA in his career vs the Wild. Offensively Dallas is ranked 2nd in the league in scoring (3.5 gpg), 2nd in shots per game and 2nd in power play conversions, while on defense they are 14th in the league in goals allowed (2.6 gpg), 16th in shots allowed and 18th in penalty kill. On a note for the Stars, Kari Lehtonen is going in the injured list.

Minnesota Comes in Slumping
The Minnesota Wild have won just one of their last five games prior to their game vs Winnipeg on Friday night, so they are not playing really well at the moment and that stretch includes a 3-2 loss at Dallas. Minnesota last game was a home loss to a struggling Vancouver squad, in which Minnesota had a lot of problems getting their offense going. They scored just two goals in the game, which were scored by Thomas Vanek (9th) and Charlie Coyle (5th). In the game Minnesota outshot the Canucks and also won the faceoff battle, but lost where it counts, on the scoreboard.

Devan Dubnyk grabbed the loss in the game and is now 11-8 on the year with a 2.52 GAA. He is slated to start on Friday night, so getting the start in this game will be Darcy Kuemper, who is 0-1 with a 4.33 GAA on the year. He has started two games, but was pulled in one of the after allowing four goals. He is 4-3 with a 3.06 GAA in his career vs the Stars. Minnesota checks in at 7th in the league in scoring at 3.0 gpg and 9th on the power play (20.8%), while on defense they are 20th in goals allowed (2.7 gpg) and 29th in penalty kill (74.0%). The Wild are hoping to get Zach Parise back soon, possibly as early as Friday night. Let's review the NHL Odds & Stats up next.

Trends

Dallas is:

The road team is 14-37-1 the last 52 in the series

28-64 in their last 92 games playing on 0 days rest

Minnesota is:

20-8 in their last 28 home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of greater than .600

8-2 in their last 10 home games

The Wild have not played well of late, but this is a home dominated series and they are a strong home team, plus they will be taking on a Dallas team that isn’t that great playing with no rest. The Stars have injury issues at the goalie spot and Minnesota could have Parise back for this game. It all sets up nicely for a Minnesota win as the NHL pick.
