The Dallas Stars will wrap-up a three-game road trip with a stop at the Rexall Place to face-off against the Edmonton Oilers this Wednesday night.

Game time for this Western Conference matchup is set for 7 p.m. (PT) and the game will be available on NHL Center Ice.

Stars Betting Overview

Dallas has been able to overcome a four-game skid with two victories in its last three games including 3-2 win over Colorado as a 123 road underdog this past Monday. The Stars are now 4-5-1 on the year and six points behind San Jose for first place in the Pacific Division. The total has stayed UNDER in six of their last nine games.

The reason that Dallas has been such a solid play on the UNDER line this season is a dismal goals-per-game average of 1.9 to go along with a defensive effort that is holding opponents to 2.5 goals a game. The team’s leading goal scorer is Michael Ryder with four and 40-year old Jaromir Jagr leads the team in points with two goals and four assists. The Stars have already used a trio of players in goal, but look for Richard Bachman to possibly get the call in this one. He has the lowest GAA of the three at 1.88 and a .944 save percentage.

Oilers Betting Overview

The Oilers dropped their third-straight game this past Monday with a 3-2 overtime loss to Vancouver as 125 home underdogs with the total staying UNDER the 5.5 line. They are now two points behind the Canucks for the lead in the Northwest Division at 4-3-2. The total has stayed UNDER in their last five games.

Much like the Stars, Edmonton has struggled to find the back of the net this season with an average of 2.3 goals per game. Nail Yakupov has led the way with five goals but the team only has five other players with more than one goal. Sam Gagner and Taylor Hall are two of the five with a combined five goals and 14 assists. Devan Dubnyk has seen the majority of the action in goal and has been effective with a 2.56 GAA and a save percentage of .925. The one area where the Oilers have been extremely effective is on the power play with a conversion rate of 28.6 percent.

Dallas Stars vs. Edmonton Oilers- Free NHL Pick

Both these teams have had their issues scoring goals so far, but come into this matchup playing solid hockey on the other end of the ice. It should remain a close, hard-fought battle to the end between these two defensive minded teams so  the free NHL pick in this contest is on the total line.
