It’ll be a fully loaded day on the ice this Saturday as 24 teams are in action. There’s lots to choose from on the menu and we’ve narrowed down our NHL picks to the following:
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. St. Louis Blues
Odds: Blues -220
The Blues have been one of the league’s best home bets this season as they’ve won 16 of their 22 home games and 15 of their last 19. That number figures to improve against a Maple Leafs team that’s dropped 11 of their last 14 games. They have shown some signs of improvement under interim head coach Peter Horachek, namely their defense, but their offense has completely disappeared. They have scored just one goal in their last three road games and scored two goals or less if five of six.
The Blues have won five of the last seven meetings between the teams and they should extend those trends. This will be the Leafs fourth and final game on their road trip and will also be their fourth game in six nights. Look for the Blues to take advantage. Since there’s a ton of juice here, we’ll take the puck line with our NHL picks.

Washington Capitals vs. Dallas Stars
Odds: Starts -138
We’re looking at a little bit of a crazy NHL odds line in this spot as the Stars are laying a fair amount of juice even though they’re mired in a big slump. Beyond that, they’re facing one of the hotter teams in the NHL right now. Other than the fact that the Capitals are in a back-to-back situation, there isn’t much reason to bet the Stars here. Dallas enters Saturday’s affair having lost five of their last six. They’re not a particularly reliable home team with a record of 5-4 in their last nine at home. On the year, they are 10-14 in their own confines.
Washington is in a back-to-back situation but we’re talking about a team that has won 14 of their last 20 games. They’re playing about as well as anyone and deserve a look here – especially as a big road dog against a team that’s slumping.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Ottawa Senators
Odds: Senators -160
After cashing in with a Carolina under on Friday night, we’ll go back to the wishing well one more time here. This is a team that’s allowed just 28 goals in their last 14 games and is playing in a ton of low-scoring affairs. They’ve topped the five-goal mark just twice in their last 13 games. On Saturday, they’re on the road with a total of five and the under is 5-1 this season when the ‘Canes are in a road game with a total of five or less. Beyond that, this has been an under series as four of the last five meetings overall – and each of the last two in Ottawa – have stayed under. Throw in the fact that Sens goaltender Craig Anderson has a 2.36 GAA and .931 save percentage against Carolina in his career and we should be looking at a low-scoring affair in this one.
