The rebuilding but scrappy Rangers will shutdown a tired Sabres team coming in on the tail end of a back-to-back. Take the Rangers ML and the Under.

Openly admitting they were in rebuilding mode and setting expectations low, the New York Rangers came into this season with nothing to lose. They’ve played like that so far and become one of the scrappiest teams in the NHL, equaling or out-working their opponent every night. Veteran and future hall of fame goalie Henrik Lundqvist has not been his old Vezina self but he’s still been solid and has the Rangers coming into this game at +5,000 to win the Stanley Cup at BetOnline after coming into the season at +12,500.

King Henrik and the Blueshirts will welcome in a upstart and improved, but likely tired Sabres squad to MSG after Buffalo hosted the Senators Saturday night. New Rangers head coach has his young squad playing an up tempo style with, when executed properly, produces a vicious forecheck. That, combined with some old school goaltending from Lundqvist will help the Rangers shutout the Sabres and get one step closer to .500, a place no one expected New York to be at this point.

The Rangers are 5-8 against the spread and 3-3 at home. New York has scored 35 goals and allowed 43. They’re 5-8 on the over/under and 1-5-0 at home. The Blueshirts are 9-4 on the puck line and 5-1 at home. One key stat for the home team, they’re 3-0 in the shootout.

Mika Zibanejad and Mats Zuccarello are tied for the team lead in points with 10. Zuccarello leads the team in assists with 7 helpers and Chris Kreider leads New York in goals with 6.

The Sabres are no slouches themselves and find themselves in playoff talk as we enter the second month of the season. Captain Jack Eichel finally seems happy and believes in the direction of the organization, which right now is onward and upward. The Sabres came into the season at +8500 to win the Cup and can now be had at +5,000. That all being said, coming in on the tail end of a back-to-back and on the road at MSG, this game has all the makings of a letdown for this highly skilled club.

The Sabres are 6-7 against the spread and 3-4 on the road. Buffalo has scored 33 goals and allowed 39. They’re 7-5-1 on the over/under and 4-2-1 on the road. The Sabres are 6-7 on the puck line and 4-3 on the road.
