We’ll be uncovering some hidden value pertaining to the NHL puck-line in tonight’s game between Buffalo and Carolina. Read what our NHL consultant’s findings were in this regard, and allow yourself to have the best possible betting edge in this game.

Puck-Line Value in Sabres/Hurricanes Encounter
The Carolina Hurricanes will host the Buffalo Sabres this evening at 7:05 PM ET. I’m going to be focusing on the puck-line in order to make one of my NHL picks on Thursday. According to the NHL odds at Bookmaker, Carolina is -1.5 (+145), and Buffalo is +1.5 (-170) on the puck-line.

Sabres Downward Spiral
The Buffalo Sabres have lost the last 5 and 9 of their previous 10-games. The recent lack of success is bad enough, but their lack of competitiveness through this dismal period is very concerning. Buffalo has been outscored 22-5 during this recent 5-game losing streak, and 45-17 during their previous 10-games. The Sabres have lost by 2-goals or more in each of their previous five games, and eight of its last nine losses have come by 2-goals or more. Buffalo will be facing an opponent (Carolina) tonight that’s averaging only 2.0 goals per game on the season. However, that’s of little consolation since the Sabres have gone 1-12 this season when facing an opponent that average 2.55 or less goals per game.

Tightening the Screws Defensively
The Carolina Hurricanes are an offensively challenged team to say the least, but that hasn’t stopped them from putting forth an excellent effort defensively in recent games. The Canes have allowed two goals or less in six of their previous eight games. Unfortunately, they’ve scored two goals or less in each of their previous nine games. On a positive note, the Canes have gone an outstanding 7-1 at home during the past two seasons after scoring two goals or less in each of their previous five games. Cam Ward will get the start in goal tonight for Carolina. Despite Carolina’s terrible record this season, Ward has played admirably in goal. He’s compiled .915 save percentage in 28-starts, and has posted three shutouts.

Final Analysis
This will be the final game of the first half of the schedule for the Carolina Hurricanes. These teams met once this season, and Buffalo was a 4-3 winner at Carolina on October 14th.Carolina enters tonight with a winning percentage of .300 on the season, and the Sabres are at .341. Any time you have a home team that’s playing in the first half of the season, they’re playing with same season revenge stemming from a loss in which they allowed four goals or more, both teams in the contest have a winning percentage of between .300 to .400, the home team has gone 30-9 the past five seasons, and that includes a perfect 6-0 this season.

NHL Pick- Carolina -1.5 (+145) over Buffalo on the puck-line at Bookmaker.
