The Vancouver Canucks have been incredible to start the 2014-15 season. On Saturday, they’re getting +120 on the NHL betting odds versus a Los Angeles Kings team that’s in a really big slump.

The Vancouver Canucks Can Win Because…
The LA Kings are a mess right now. Los Angeles just can’t seem to buy a win as they’ve dropped five of their last six. While most people just wrote that off as the Kings having struggles on the road (four of those five losses were away), that theory proved to be flawed when the Kings lost 2-1 setback at home to the New York Islanders on Thursday.

Vancouver is one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now as they’ve won six of their last seven games. That includes road wins in Edmonton, Colorado and San Jose, so playing away from home won’t deter them. These are two teams at opposite ends of the momentum spectrum right now but with the Canucks, you can get them as a dog on the NHL odds. That’s why they’re the play.

The Los Angeles Kings Can Win Because…
They’re back at home. While they did lose their most recent home game, that was just their second home loss on the year. Typically, they are pretty tough to beat at the Staples Center.

The Canucks are playing their third game in a four-game road trip and eventually, fatigue is going to set in. They’ve also had some easy matchups like Edmonton, Colorado and a Sharks team that has been doing a ton of traveling. Facing the Kings is going to be their toughest test on this road trip and it’s a test they are likely to fail.

Outlook & Pick
The Canucks are going to attract some action as they’re playing better and are the dog, but this is a tough spot for them. The Kings are really hard to beat at home. Instead, go under the low total. Ryan Miller is 4-0-1 with a 1.74 GAA in his last five starts versus the Kings while Jonathan Quick is 10-5-0 with a 1.52 GAA in his last 15 versus Vancouver. The side is a tossup so the best NHL pick here is on the total.
