Our NHL handicapping professional has a totals selection on all three games for Wednesday’s small card. Take the time to read his sharp betting preview article which covers the Toronto/Columbus, Boston/Washington, and Dallas/Anaheim contests.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Columbus Blue Jackets 7:35 PM ET
The NHL betting odds at 5Dimes has a posted total of 5.5 on this game.

The Columbus Blue Jackets haven’t gone under the total in any of their previous seven contests, and are averaging 3.7 goals per game during that time. Columbus is coming off a 4-3 road loss at the hands of their Metropolitan Division rival the New York Rangers. They’ve seen all seven games this season go over the total following a road loss versus an opponent from within their own division. The Blue Jackets have seen just thirteen of their thirty-nine games (33.3%) at home stay under the total.

The Toronto Maple Leafs has scored three-goals or more in four of their previous five games. Toronto has allowed an enormous average of 41.8 shots on goal per game during their previous four contests.

Neither of these teams is considered to be very good defensively, and each club allows a shade above 3.0 goals per game this season. I like this contest to be a high scoring affair for one of my NHL picks on Wednesday.

NHL Pick: Play on Toronto and Columbus to go over the total of 5.5 at 5Dimes.

Boston Bruins vs. Washington Capitals 8:05 PM ET
The NHL betting odds at Pinnacle have the total in this game posted at 5.0.

The Boston Bruins enter tonight having won five consecutive games in a row, improving their win percentage to .519 for the season. The Washington Capitals currently possess a .550 winning percentage. The combination of these three factors qualifies for a very profitable NHL totals angle.

Any road team (Boston) with a total of 5.0 or less, coming off four consecutive wins in a row, and they have a winning percentage of .510 to .600 on the season, versus an opponent with a winning percentage of better than .500, has seen that road team go under the total in 71 of those 108-games (65.4%) since 1996.

NHL Pick: Play on Boston and Washington to go under the total of 5.0 The Greek

Dallas Stars vs. Anaheim Ducks 10:35 PM ET
The NHL betting odds at Heritage shows a posted total of 5.5 in this game.

The Dallas Stars have gone over the total in each of the last five, and seven of their previous eight games. The Stars have scored four goals or more in seven of their last nine games. With their playoff hopes dashed, I look for Dallas to continue playing a wide open and entertaining brand of hockey. They’ll be facing a Ducks team which has seen just two of their last seven games stay under the total.

NHL Pick: Play on Dallas and Anaheim to go over the total of 5.5
