Detroit Red Wings vs. New Jersey Devils
The Red Wings are a road dog on Friday but they actually play great on the road (9-4) – especially when you compare it to their porous 5-11 home record. As for New Jersey, they really don’t have much of a home-ice advantage with a home record of 5-7.
The line is where it is because Detroit is shorthanded without Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. I still think they’re more than capable of getting the job done without them. The Devils have lost two straight and five of seven.
Pick: Red Wings +114 at Pinnacle
Minnesota Wild vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
Minnesota is in a back-to-back situation in this spot and it’s also their third game in four nights. However, with the game being virtually a PICK, I’ll add the Wild to my NHL picks.
Columbus has been alternating wins and losses for nine straight games now and are coming off a win. They are just 6-8 at home this season, which compares favorably with the Wild’s 5-8 road record. This looks like a coin flip, so I’ll go with the team that’s played better this season.
Pick: Under 5.5 at SportsInteraction
Phoenix Coyotes vs. Vancouver Canucks
Phoenix has really had a tough time keeping their opponents from scoring recently – they’ve allowed at least four goals in five of their last seven games – but I’m still going to add them to my sports picks here because Vancouver doesn’t deserve to be such a huge favorite. The Canucks are laying -150 at home, which is a bit crazy when you consider they’ve lost eight of their last 11 home games. Without home-ice advantage, this is a toss-up but you’re getting the nicer payout with the Coyotes on the NHL odds.
