Tuesday marks the end of the first week of NHL betting action this season. Let’s sift through the card and find three games that offer some value.

San Jose Sharks vs. Washington Capitals
The San Jose Sharks are a much better team at home than on the road, but they’ve looked very focused to start the 2014-15 season. They have produced back-to-back shutouts with a 4-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings and then a 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Tuesday will be a challenge for them as they head to Washington, who has also looked good.

The game is at a PICK but my focus here is on the total. Both teams have been excellent defensively as the Sharks have yet to allow a goal while the Caps have allowed just one regulation goal this season. This should be a low scoring affair and the NHL odds here should be a total of 5, not 5.5.

NHL Pick: Under 5.5 at The Greek

New York Islanders vs. New York Rangers
The New York Rangers have had a rough start to the 2014-15 season as they have just one win in three games. Now they come back home to host the Islanders in a battle for New York and the Isles could be worth a look. The Rangers have been a better road team than home team for the better part of a year now and although they’re laying -145 in this game, that line doesn’t incorporate that fact. They actually had a losing record at Madison Square Garden last season and were blown out 6-3 in their home opener on Sunday.

The Isles have looked strong in back-to-back wins to start the season, scoring nine goals in the two contests. They’ll be in this game and are worth a look with your NHL picks tonight.

NHL Pick: Islanders +130 at Pinnacle

Anaheim Ducks vs. Philadelphia Flyers
The Anaheim Ducks have had no issues scoring goals in the early going as they’ve managed at least three in every single contest. On the whole, they have totaled 12 in three games. On Tuesday, they should be able to continue that trend against a Flyers team that has been having a hard time in their own zone this season. So far, the Flyers have allowed 12 goals in three games. This game should go over the number.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at Bovada
