There are seven games on the ice on Thursday and we’ve got NHL picks on four of them. We’ve separated the Dallas-Pittsburgh preview in its own article and below are three picks from the rest of the card.

San Jose Sharks vs. New York Islanders

Odds: Sharks -115

Both of these teams have been quite impressive to start the season. Who would have figured this would be a matchup of two undefeated teams?

The Isles are a tempting choice here at a PICK but San Jose has looked really focused in their three wins. They’ve scored at least three goals in every outing and racked up some quality wins like Los Angeles and Washington on the road. The Isles schedule hasn’t been as rigorous, so I’m not as sold on them just yet.

Instead, I’ll take the over in this spot. As mentioned, the Sharks offense is cooking (averaging 4.3 goals per game) and so is the Isles offense (5.0 goals per game). This matchup should get over the number.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at The Greek

Colorado Avalanche vs, Ottawa Senators

Odds: Senators -115

The Avs have been a disappointment so far with losses in three of their first four games but they’ve been more competitive in their last two. They won in Boston and then lost in overtime in Toronto. After a night off, they should be in good shape to go toe-to-toe with Ottawa, who is a subpar team.

This will be the Sens home opener but I’m skeptical of their 2-1-0 start. They’ve barely edged Tampa Bay (shootout) and Florida (1-0) and their lone loss was in Nashville. With the Avs being a PICK, they look like they’re worth a shot here with our NHL pick.

NHL Pick: Avalanche +102 at Pinnacle

St. Louis Blues vs. Los Angeles Kings

Odds: Kings -140

The Kings have been up and down to start the season, losing their first two games before winning the last two. They lost to decent teams like San Jose and Arizona, but rolled over Winnipeg and Edmonton. St. Louis falls in the upper tier of teams, so they should be a handful for the Kings on Thursday night.

The Blues will be well-rested since their win on Saturday and they will want to measure themselves against the Stanley Cup champs. That’s their goal this season, so they’ll want to make an early statement. The Kings have won five straight meetings in Los Angeles and nine of the last 12 overall, but I’m willing to take a flier with the Blues on the NHL odds here as a road dog.

NHL Pick: Blues +120 at Pinnacle
