We spot a couple of standout NHL betting clashes on the day’s card and serve up choice NHL picks. Check out where we’re lining up our money in these must-bet games.

Los Angeles vs. Dallas
A top of the Western Conference table features on the NHL betting card when the Los Angeles Kings descend on leaders Dallas Stars. As it is, the Kings are fourth in the standings with a 41-22-5 mark and 87 points while the Stars are first in the standings with a 41-20-9 mark and 91 points. The premium on the win here couldn’t be any greater with the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks (88 points) sandwiched in between and the St. Louis Blues  level with the Stars on 91 points.

If there’s any sign NHL bettors should be paying attention to, it’s the gauntlet-throwing win over the Chicago Blackhawks by the LA Kings on Monday night that has the Kings improving to 7-2-1 in their last ten games. The Kings descended on the Blackhawks in the windy city, no less, and marched off with the 5-0 win. In their second game in as many nights, they’ll be looking to carry that momentum into Dallas, but the NHL odds makers aren’t buying what they are selling. Well, not entirely. Some sportsbooks have the Kings installed on EVEN odds while others are up +110 (5Dimes). The majority have the Kings installed somewhere in between to win outright.

Obviously, the Stars are the favourites on the NHL odds board, anywhere from -115 to-125 depending on your sportsbook of choice. It’s worth noting, however, that recent form doesn’t augur well. The Stars are coming off a loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night, a 5-1 loss at home that marked their third loss in their last six games and fifth loss in their last six home games. On the season, home form stands at a solid 22-10-2 but can NHL bettors really ignore their current home form? In fact, based on current form altogether we’d wager the Kings are the value NHL pick to upset the NHL odds.

Boston vs. San Jose
San Jose Sharks improved to a 6-3-1 mark following a win over the Washington Capitals. If you’re looking for a statement-making win, there’s none better than beating the best team in the NHL this season. The 5-2 win in the Shark tank improves the Sharks to 38-24-6 overall, and sees them bounce back from inexplicable back-to-back home losses to the Canucks (4-2) and New Jersey Devils (3-0) in recent days. Still, in their last six home games the Sharks are 3-3 SU and on the season they cut a so-so figure at home with a 13-15-3 mark so they aren’t a certain bet to win outright at home. Indeed, we’d suggest they might be slightly overrated on the NHL odds board at -135 NHL odds (or thereabouts depending on your choice sportsbook) to win outright. Consider the Boston Bruins ar riding high with a 39-23-8 mark and 86 points, second in the Eastern Conference, that notion becomes even stronger.

In fact, the Bruins are a solid 7-1-2 in their last ten games and boast a stellar 23-7-3 mark on the road this season. They are coming off a 3-1 win over the Islanders at home on Saturday, improving to 5-2 in their last seven games. It’s worth noting the two losses came in overtime to Washington and Carolina. On the road, they are riding a four-game winning streak, and they are 8-2 SU in their last ten games. Based on that form it’s a little bit surprising that Boston isn’t trading on shorter NHL odds. They are matched as the +120 underdogs at 5Dimes and Pinnacle. In fact, with home-ice advantage iffy for the Sharks, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Bruins upset the NHL odds. As such, we’re backing them on our NHL picks.
