It’s another of our highly successful “NHL Picks of the Day” segment on Friday. We have a pair of best bet totals in the games between Calgary/Pittsburgh and Florida/Detroit. Read our brief analysis on each game which includes a pair of NHL betting systems that have gone a combined 218-122 during the past 5-seasons.

Calgary Flames vs. Pittsburgh Penguins 7:05 PM ET
The Calgary Flames enter tonight having lost their last 3 in a row. They not only will be facing one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference tonight, they will be doing so by playing in their 3rd road game in the last 4-days. The probable starting goaltender for the Flames tonight is Jonas Hiller. He’s been very good during his 9-starts on the road this season by compiling a stellar .922 save percentage.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have endured a plethora of injuries to key players over the past couple of weeks. That inactive list may be a bit longer tonight with their best player Sidney Crosby listed as questionable due to an illness. In all likelihood, we’ll see Marc-Andre Fleury between the pipes tonight for the Penguins. Fleury has posted 4-shutouts in his first 21-starts of the season, and has been terrific in his 5-outings when facing non-conference opponents with a superb .935 save percentage.

NHL Betting System
Both of these teams are coming off identical 4-3 losses in their previous games. Any team facing a non-conference opponent, coming off a game in which both teams scored 3-goals or more, has seen 180 of those 288-games (62.5%) go under the total during the past 5-seasons.

Free NHL Pick: Calgary/Pittsburgh to go under the total of 5.5 at 5Dimes

Florida Panthers vs. Detroit Red Wings 7:35 PM ET
Despite the Detroit Red Wings going under the total in each of their previous 3-games, they’ve seen just 10 of their first 29 (34.5%) stay under the number. The Wings were able to score only 1-goal in their previous game, and that snapped a string of 8-games in a row in which they scored 3-goals or more.

Granted the Florida Panthers have struggled offensively for the better part of the season. However, they haven’t seen any of their previous 4 games stay under the total, and those games have averaged 6.3 goals combined being scored.

NHL Betting System
The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 2-1 home loss in their previous game versus their Atlantic Division rival the Toronto Maple Leafs. The loss dropped the Wings money line record for the season to 17-12 (.586). They will be facing a Florida Panthers team tonight which has gone 11-15 against the money line during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign. These three facts set up a very profitable betting system, and I’ll take advantage of just that when making one of my NHL picks for today.

Any team (Detroit) coming off a home loss versus a foe from within their own division, and that team has a winning record on the season, versus an opponent with a losing record, has seen 38 of those 52-games (73.1%) go over the total during the past 5-seasons.

Free NHL Pick: Florida/Detroit to go over the total of 5.0 at Bookmaker
