The Lightning and Islanders are the only NHL offering tonight but that won't stop us from finding value to pad our bankroll. Join me for my NHL pick on this game.

2016-2017 NHL Selection Record:  17-15  .531   +10.57 units

There's only one game available tonight but there's still a profit to be made but we must look to the 'total' to get it.  As always, make sure to shop for the best numbers only at SBR's NHL odds.

Before we get into that, let's look at a few more future odds that may be worth putting some money on. We've already discussed the Metropolitan Division and the Atlantic Division but what about the Central and Pacific.

We've seen some separation in the Central as the Blackhawks now lead the Winnipeg Jets, yes I said Winnipeg, by 6 points so is this the time to jump on Chicago before the gap gets bigger causing the odds to decrease? The answer is yes.  You can get the Hawks at +175 which isn't horrible as their division mates are still treading around the .500 mark.  At this point, it comes down to whether you feel the Minnesota Wild can catch Chicago. The Wild are the only team who has played at a level that would warrant any future ticket consideration. At this juncture in the season, any plus money return is a good return so consider grabbing the Blackhawks before you'll have to lay juice to win the division.

In the Pacific, the Edmonton Oilers hold a one-point lead over the San Jose Sharks but with the Oilers being the most gifted team in that division they should garner your future ticket consideration but let's wait another 7-10 days to see if our ROI will be more attractive. Right now the Oilers are only +150, not much of a payoff. People like to watch exciting teams and bet exciting players.  If the Oilers falter a bit you should get better value as they are now the solid favorite to win the Pacific. See what you get if they fall behind three to five points and then jump on that number.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs N.Y. Islanders

One game tonight featuring the Tampa bay Lightning and the New York Islanders who played last week, a 4-1 Tampa victory. True to form the public thinks they are getting the best of the books by betting the opposite of the previous week's outcome. The public loves revenge spots especially when its played by two teams who recently met with the loser holding home ice advantage. 'Joe Public' and the 'wiseguys' are all over the Islanders and the 'over', the opposite of last game. Anticipate a slower pace defined by physical play with both teams featuring solid netminders in Andrei Vasilevskiy for Tampa and Jaroslav Halak for New York. My NHL picks will go to the over in this one.
