2016-2017 NHL Selection Record: 10-7   .588   +11.38 units

Well, we did it!!

Our biggest play to date cashed like a champion last night as the Edmonton Oilers easily handed the Washington Capitals a road defeat earning us over 13 units of profit. It was a chance but sometimes you have to take those when opportunity knocks.

Tonight we're going back to a more conservative play as nothing sticks out as "Elite' but certainly, there is one that should earn your attention. Just for the record, an 'Elite' play is anything that I consider putting five units or more on where a 'Diamond' release is a 10 unit bet that we have extreme confidence in. Last night came close as we put nine units on the Oilers as a +145 underdog but not close enough for full confidence.

Tonight's game is the featured game on the NHL schedule as both the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning have dreams of an Atlantic Division title, a dream that was shattered by this time last year for Montreal. I can't imagine Michel Therrien not using their home underdog status as motivation.

The public seems to be on the fact that Montreal played last night against the Islanders and then having to travel back home to take on Tampa Bay who are considered to be Stanley Cup contenders by almost everyone. Seems like easy money, right?  Not so fast.

Let's first remember that Al Montoya started in goal for Montreal last night which means you're going to have a fresh Carey Price who has been nothing short of spectacular.

Defensively Montreal has taken Therrien's approach and have played it to perfection, allowing only 11 goals in seven games. Much of that has been due to their netminders. Although they have given up a lot of shots (30.7/gm) much of those chances have been to the perimeter which gives Price and Montoya a much better chance at finding success.

I'm a big fan of Shea Webber as he has added another dimension on the power play, a unit that will get better despite their current success rate (19.2%). Webber leads the team with nine points while adding the game-winning PP goal in last night's win.

The scary fact about Montreal is they can get better because there are many areas in which they are still deficient. Tonight is an opportunity for the Habs to make a statement at home so we're going to jump on the generous number right now at SBR's hockey odds and the list of best sportsbooks before making any hockey pick.
