Free NHL Picks - Tampa Bay Lightning vs Florida Panthers

Ben Bishop in action

Monday, November 7, 2016 7:54 PM GMT

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be visiting the Florida Panthers tonight. Expect Bishop and Luongo to shine tonight as we jump on the 'under' for our NHL picks at a generous price.

2016-17 NHL Selection Record:   14-11   .560   +11.47 units

With a victory tonight we will be at our highest unit peak this season but with a limited card to choose from our NHL pick is going to be a total as we continue to play with 'House Money'. There are three games on the schedule but none of them offer a reasonable price so we are forced to lay off our typical 'side' play.

Home teams continue to dominate winners this season at 114-56-9, 63.69%, but with the best home option being the Boston Bruins tonight we are not recommending following that trend as you'll have to lay -160 or more to get the Bruins.

Puck-line underdogs continue to dominate as they continue to cash over 66% of their opportunities but as we've stated many times prior, you have to lay too much to take advantage of these plays.

'Under' winners continue to lengthen their lead on 'overs' (87-77) which brings us to tonight's play.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Florida Panthers

Another round between two instate rivals takes place tonight at BB&T Center as the Tampa bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers clash for Sunshine state bragging rights.

First, we point to the slow start by the Florida Panthers, caused by their lack of offensive punch, so it's difficult to think that they're going to solve Ben Bishop tonight. We bet with facts and the facts say that Tampa doesn't seem like the team that the Panthers will finally get offensively healthy against.

The Panthers have made many moves to upgrade their team in the offseason but I don't feel like they have come together with all their new parts yet to go along with all their early season injuries with three of their top forwards are out of action.

Their power play hasn't been an effective tool either as they have succeeded in just over 17% of their chances putting them in the lower half of the league.

The World Cup has taken its toll on some teams more than others but Aaron Ekblad was sent home with whiplash and hasn't reached the same level of play that he displayed last season. Jussi Jokinen injured his knee during the WC and although he's seen playing time the injury has lingered.

I have the Lightning at #3 in my first power ranking and with good reason.  They are in the top five in almost every major offensive category which may not bode well for the 'under' but I do know this, the Panthers will be lucky to get two goals against a team that is also stingy on the PK.  Let's count on a 3-1 Tampa win and no that doesn't mean bet the Lightning on the goal line.
