Four points separate the teams in the standings and needless to say, this matchup looms as an important one.

The San Jose Sharks can win because…
Phoenix isn’t a tough opponent. The Coyotes are in desperate need of wins and points these days, yet they are coming off a road trip where they squandered two of the three games. Most recently, the Coyotes lost 3-2 to the feeble Calgary Flames.
Phoenix is having a tough time scoring goals as they have just five in their last three ganes. Scoring against San Jose has also been an issue for the Coyotes as they’ve scored six goals in three meetings this season while losing two of them. If the Sharks only need a goal or two to get the job done, they’re more than capable.
The Phoenix Coyotes can win because…
They are finally back at home. The Coyotes have been a complete mess on the road this season but at home, they have been reliable. They have just five wins in 20 road games this season and have just three wins in their last 15 away contests. At home they are 4-0-1 in their last five and 13-7-1 on the year.
Phoenix plays pretty well against their division rivals from San Jose. Goaltender Mike Smith has won five of six against the Sharks. He’s posted a 0.97 GAA while shutting them out four times in that span. With Smith leading the way and the Coyotes playing at home, they are worth a look on the NHL odds boards.

Outlook & Pick
The under like looks like the best option for our NHL picks here. The Sharks average just 1.95 goals per game on the road and that probably won’t improve given how well Smith fares against the Sharks. Take the under in this spot.
