Our NHL consultant examines tonight’s game between the Columbus Blue Jackets & Colorado Avalanche, sharing his profitable 40-11 money line betting system.
Sunday Night NHL in the Rockies
The Colorado Avalanche will host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight with the opening faceoff slated for 8:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at 5Dimes, Columbus is a -165 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. This will be the first meeting of the season between these nonconference opponents. Colorado won both of their games versus Columbus a season ago.
Temporary halt to Jackets Momentum
The Columbus Blue Jackets are coming off a 6-3 road loss at Arizona last night. Despite that defeat, they’ve gone a stellar 10-3 against the money line in their last 13-games. The loss also put an end to a 4-game road winning streak. Tonight will be the 2nd of a 4-game in 7-day road trip for Columbus. They’ve gone over the total in 7 of their 8-games this season following a road loss, and 4 of the last 5 overall. On a negative note, the Jackets have gone 1-6 in the last 7 when playing with no rest.
Desperate for a Torrid Run
It’s no secret in NHL circles that the Colorado Avalanche have been the biggest disappointment in the Western Conference this season, and arguably in the entire NHL. After all, this was a club that shocked the majority of experts a season ago by winning the Central Division, and earning the #2 seed in the Western Conference playoff bracket. They’ve started this season by losing 23 of their first 36-games. However, on the positive side of the ledger, they’ve gone 5-2 over their last 7-games, and have won the first two games of a four game in seven day home stand. Their #1 goaltender Semyon Varlamov recently returned from the injured reserve list, and he’s gone 3-1 in his last four starts with an impressive .935 save percentage. In addition, they will be facing an opponent (Columbus) tonight with a .444 winning percentage. Colorado has gone 37-14 during the past two seasons versus an opponent with a less than .500 winning percentage.
NHL Money Line Betting System
Colorado is coming off a 2-1 win in their previous game versus the Edmonton Oilers. As I alluded to earlier, Columbus lost last night 6-3. This leads us to a clear cut and profitable betting system that I will lean on when making my NHL picks for today.
Any home team (Colorado) that allowed 1-goal or less in their previous game, versus an opponent (Columbus) that allowed 6-goals or more in their previous game, has seen that home team go 40-11 (78.4%) against the money line during the past five seasons.
