Free NHL picks for the Monday night battle between the Winnipeg Jets and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Let our hockey odds overview help you decide where to place your sports picks.

The Winnipeg Jets season might be over very quickly unless they turn things around. That might be surprising to hear even though we haven’t even reached Christmas but when you look at the standings, they are already 10 points out of a playoff spot. They come into Monday’s meeting with Columbus in a slump but they can’t afford to drop any more winnable games.

The Winnipeg Jet scan win because…

Columbus is about their equal. While the Jets struggle to beat the elite teams in the NHL, maybe they are worth adding to your NHL picks on Monday because they’re facing an equal foe.

The Blue Jackets are 14-19 on the year and it’s hard to get behind that when you have to lay juice with them. They are also without top goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, which won’t exactly help their case.

The Columbus Blue Jackets can win because…

The Jets stink right now. Winnipeg comes into Monday’s meeting in a downward spiral after losing four of their last five. When you look at the bigger picture, the Jets haven’t played well for nearly a month as they’ve dropped nine of their last 13 games.

The Blue Jackets have won four of six and the Jets are merely too beat up both mentally and physically right now to be worth your money. The Jets are without Matt Halischuk, Evander Kane (lower-body), Zach Bogosian (groin), Jim Slater (sports hernia) and Paul Postma (blood clot in his leg).

Outlook & Pick

For whatever reason, the Jets have been decent on the road lately as four of their last six wins have come away from home. However, Columbus is 4-1-1 in their last six and is playing very well right now. I’ll stick with the hot team for my sports picks since the NHL odds are not making us lay a lot of juice.
