There’s only five games on the NHL betting menu on Friday, which means we’re limited in terms of games we can pick from. Even so, these are our three best picks from the short card tonight.

St. Louis Blues vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
Odds: Blues -175
The Blues are on a roll right now as they won again last night in Buffalo, covering the puckline for us, and now making it seven straight wins and 12 of their last 13.

As for the Blue Jackets, they are fresh off another loss as they fell 4-1 at home to the Arizona Coyotes. That was their eighth loss in 11 games. Since losing goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, they’ve had a tough time keeping their opponents out of the net as they’ve allowed at least three goals in each game (each of their last four). The Blues offense is on fire as they’ve scored at least three goals in 12 of their last 14, which is something you should consider when looking over the NHL odds. They are now 6-2 on the season when on the road with a total of 5.5 and 16-4 against teams with a losing record. Look for those trends to continue but with the juice being high, take a shot with the Blues on the puck line.

NHL Pick: Blues -1.5 at The Greek

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New Jersey Devils
Odds: Devils -133
The Maple Leafs are going to win at some point – they have to, right? – but it’s just hard to take them at +120. There needs to be a bigger payout considering this is a team that’s lost 10 straight and 18 of 21. The Leafs have also lost 10 straight on the road while being held to just 10 goals including a 2-1 loss to New Jersey just last week. They might have a tough time getting past the Devils as goaltender Cory Schneider has been playing very well. He’s gone 6-1-1 in his last 1.78 GAA. He’s 3-0-2 in his career against the Leafs with the two losses coming via shootouts.

The Devils have been playing well of late, winning four of their last five games. As long as they don’t take the Leafs lightly, this should be another win.

NHL Pick: Devils -133 at BetOnline

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Calgary Flames
Odds: Penguins -120
The Pens have alternated wins and losses over their last six games, which might not seem that good but it’s better than they played before that. Even with this mediocre stretch, the Pens have still dropped six of nine, which is far below what we expect from them. They’re coming off a 2-0 win in Edmonton but prior to that, had dropped eight of their last 10 on the road. On the season, they are just 12-11 on the road compared to 17-11 at home.

As for the Flames, they are one of the league’s hottest teams right now as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games. Goaltender Jonas Hiller has been playing extremely well of late as he’s 4-1-0 with a 1.47 GAA in his last six outings.

This is a good spot to take a shot with the Flames as they still aren’t getting much respect. They lost to Pittsburgh earlier in the season and look for them to be focused on getting some revenge in this spot. Take the Flames with your NHL Picks.
