Our NHL betting professional Ross Benjamin takes a look at today’s game between Anaheim/Colorado. Join us in reading this revealing NHL handicapping preview article that culminates with a free pick on the total.

Ducks Dealing with Avalanche
The Avalanche will host the Ducks at the Pepsi Center in Denver tonight with a slated start time of 8:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at SBR, the Ducks are a -135 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. This will be the first meeting of the season between these teams. The Ducks won 2 of 3 from the Avalanche a season ago, and 2 of the 3-games went over the total.

Playing Down Under
The Anaheim Ducks are coming off a 2-1 at Dallas on Friday, and that marked their 8th consecutive game which has gone under the total. During that 8-game period, Anaheim has allowed only 10-goals combined. Tonight will be the finale of a 4-game in 6-day road trip for the Ducks, and they gone 2-1 in the first 3. Since losing their season opener at Pittsburgh, the Ducks have won 9 of their next 11. Frederik Andersen is listed as tonight’s probable starting goaltender for Anaheim. Andersen has gone a superb 7-1 in his 8-starts this season, including a perfect 4-0 on the road, and compiled an excellent .941 save percentage. This will be the Ducks 3rd game in the last 4-days, and they’ve gone an incredible 15-1 the last 2-seasons when thrust into that situation.

Horrible Start for Last Season’s Surprise Team
The Colorado Avalanche surprised everyone last season by capturing the Central Division title, and finishing 2nd overall in the Western Conference. The old adage of “what a difference a year makes” is certainly applicable regarding this season’s team. They’re a dismal 3-9 against the money line so far, and are coming off a 3-2 overtime shootout loss at St. Louis on Friday. The Avalanche has seen just 3 of their first 12-games go over the total.

Final Analysis
The Anaheim Ducks enter today with a money line record of 9-3, and that’s good for a .750 winning percentage. I also touched upon their current hot streak since opening the season with a loss. Earlier in this article, I alluded to Colorado’s struggles this season, and their money line winning percentage is a dismal .250. This leads us to a stellar NHL betting system, and I’m going to capitalize on it when making my NHL picks for today. Any team that has a money line winning percentage of .700 or better, and they’ve won 8 or more of their last 10-games, versus an opponent with a .300 or less win percentage, has resulted in 27 of those 33-contests (81.8%) staying under the total.

Free Pick: Ducks/Avalanche to go under the total of 5.5
