With a win the Ducks can reclaim the Pacific Division lead with a game in hand over Los Angeles. Will they do it tonight against the hapless Flames? See my NHL pick inside.

Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks
Everyone knows that I have not been as high on the Ducks as the general public but in this situation Anaheim is by far the better of the two and should be focused with first place at stake. I have the Ducks at 12th in my latest power ranking which seem ludicrous to most but the fact remains that you can't win 2-1 hockey games every night in the playoffs. They will have to find their offense in the postseason to make a deep run. Their current first round opponent would be the San Jose Sharks and with the Sharks not having home ice advantage I'd lean towards San Jose to move on. See the Sharks home record at SAP.

This game is a different story. I rank only four other teams worse than the Flames who have had their on and off the ice issues this season. The last time the Calgary Flames were relevant Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf hadn't even made their NHL debuts. Flames, Sam Bennett, was seven years old and the league decided to throw away the 2004-2005 season with a work stoppage. Both Getzlaf and Perry have never lost to the Calgary Flames. Getzlaf has 32 points in 20 career games against the Flames including six in two meetings this year.

To further prove the Flames infertility the Ducks have beaten Calgary 22 straight times at home and 24 if you factor in two playoff wins. Anaheim has average 3.73 goals per game during the streak. The Ducks have won twice in Calgary this season and could sweep the season series for the first time since 2010-2011.

When we dig deeper into this game you have to ask yourself if the Flames are capable of scoring at least three goals because anything less than that sways the percentages even more in the Ducks favor. Calgary hasn't won a game in which they've scored less than three goals since the middle of December and the Ducks haven't given up more than two at home in their last 12 games.  In those 12 games Anaheim is 10-1-1 with a 1.33 goals against average.

Betting Analysis
This is the beginning of a four game home stand for Anaheim that could prove to be the stretch that wins the division as they face the Flames tonight then Vancouver, Dallas, and Winnipeg.  Three of those four games you can pencil in as victories as they will have played the bottom four teams in a five game span including their victory over the Edmonton Oilers Monday.

Everyone likes a good bandwagon and the Ducks have the biggest now considering their league leading 64 points since Christmas after starting the season 12-15-6.

From a trend perspective this is a series dominated by the home team with a 46-13 record while Calgary has dropped 42 of their last 61 road games against teams with a home winning percentages over .600.
