The Dallas Stars take on the Anaheim Ducks in a highly-anticipated Sunday clash with playoff implications. Find out where the value NHL picks are to be had.

Dallas Stars (48-22-9)
The Dallas Stars are soaring in the Western Conference behind a 48-22-9 mark, four points ahead of their nearest rivals St. Louis Blues in the standings. A win over the Anaheim Ducks tonight would see the Stars take a huge step towards wrapping up top seed in the playoffs and could see the Stars clinch home-ice advantage.

The Stars are riding a four-game winning streak into their clash with the Ducks, improving to 7-2-1 in their last ten games. The Stars are solid both home and away – 26-11-2 at home and 22-11-7 away – so they might well fancy their chances against a tough Anaheim side that boasts a solid 24-10-5 record at home.

Stars are coming off wins over San Jose, Nashville, Arizona and Los Angeles – outscoring the quartet 16-7. They’ll be looking to wrap up the Californian sweep at the Honda Center.

Anaheim Ducks (43-24-10)
The Anaheim Ducks are coming off a loss to Vancouver Canucks at the Honda Center, a costly defeat that sets them back in the pursuit of top spot in their division, particularly, seeing as the Dallas Stars did them a huge favour by beating Los Angeles on Saturday night, halting the Kings in their bid for top spot.

The Ducks are 6-3-1 in their last ten games. The loss to the Canucks snapped a three-game winning streak which included wins over Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary, all while outscoring the triplet 14-7.

At home, the Ducks are 24-10-5 but they’ve split their last seven home games 4-3. Just as the Stars are through to the playoffs, so too are the Ducks. The business of securing seeding in the postseason is far from finished though and with just five games left on the season and the Kings looking to keep chase the Ducks will be eager to get back into the win column.

NHL Betting Verdict: By all accounts this should be a very close game between two very good sides in the league this season. Despite the Stars holding court in the Western Conference, they enter this game as the significant road underdogs. In fact, they opened on +130 NHL odds at 5Dimes only to swell to +140 as puck drop fast approaches. Given their form this season and current four-game winning streak going into this clash, it has to be said the Stars look good value on your NHL picks.

On the flipside, the Ducks opened on -150 NHL odds and improved to -155 at bet365, Bookmaker and Pinnacle, amongst several others. In turn, they’ve also slipped down to -148 at Heritage. All in all, the movement here is nominal and a moot point. The Ducks are deserved home favourites even though recent home form has been somewhat patchy. The pair have met twice before with each winning at home: the Stars beat the Ducks 4-3 in Dallas while the Ducks beat the Stars 4-2 in Anaheim.

Of all the games on tonight’s NHL betting schedule, this might be the toughest to handicap. The Ducks should win with home advantage but the Stars could win on the road. We’re putting up the Ducks on our NHL picks, but we won’t be surprised if the Stars mastermind the upset. For those on the fence on this game, perhaps the best NHL pick is to back the OVER 5.5 at +105 at Pinnacle. Considering their offensive prowess in the last few games – never mind the season – these two sides could really get going at the Honda Center in a right shootout.
