The New York Rangers are moving up my power rankings, 6th, as they face the Los Angeles Kings, them right in front of them at #5. Let's review the NHL odds for our best pick.

Kings vs. Rangers
It's been 23 years since the Los Angeles Kings scored as many goals, on the road, as they did in Boston, Tuesday night, but that's no reason to bet the 'shiny' object here considering this is the second game of a back to back against both New York teams. The Islanders should have worn down the Kings to an extend which should provide us with excellent money making opportunity with the Rangers.

The Rangers were able to do what very few have recently done and that's shut down the Pittsburgh Penguins offense.  Not only was it a shut down, it was a shutout as Henrik Lundqvist accumulated 34 saves in a 3-0 win.  New York slowed the pace and were extremely physical with Sidney Crosby, not allowing him time or space. The Rangers have now won four straight and sit solidly in second place behind Washington in the Metropolitan Division. This all with missing their captain and one of their leading scorers.

Be aware that there has been some talk that Antti Ranta (4-4-1, 2.30 Goals against, .909 save percentage), will start in goal for the Rangers so watch that and bet accordingly.  As of now Lundqvist is the listed started but we'll know after Friday morning skate.

Speaking of goaltenders, Kings netminder, Jonathan Quick, is listed as day to day after being run into by Boston's Jimmy Hayes at the end of Tuesday's game.  In true NHL fashion, the exact injury isn't known.  Anticipate Jhonas Enroth getting the start for Los Angeles which may be the reason the Rangers are considering Ranta. Also, the Kings recalled Peter Budaj from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, it's unknown if it's a one day call up or if Budaj will be in a Kings uniform for a bit. Rumor is he will be there for at a couple games. The Rangers must play physical, mistake free, hockey to beat Los Angeles no matter who is in goal.

The Kings top six are playing as well as anyone in the league.  This is very similar to the Penguins game where the both teams are on top of their offensive game. However, the Rangers will have a full day at home to rest and prepare for the Kings.

There's not much to dislike about the Kings play this season but this is a spot that presents a quality spot to back New York.  At this point in a long road trip I start to question how physically ready the Kings will be.  After playing an emotionally charged game in Boston and then playing the second of back to back games against the Islanders and the Rangers you figure they will slow down at some point.

The Rangers have been a fantastic home team going 46-21 in their last 67 home games, and are 48-23 in their 71 games games playimg on one days rest.

Home favorites have now won over 57% this season but as we have preached in the past, stay away from the puck lines where home favorites are only hitting at a 33.56% clip. We're backing New York with our NHL picks in this one, where they are favorites in the NHL odds boards.
