The Nashville Predators are hanging on to their playoff lives but might be facing the Los Angeles Kings at the time considering the Kings are playing the final road trip game.

Kings vs. Predators
The Kings started their current road trip with the best offensive performance in eight years, scoring nine goals against the Bruins. They scored 16 in their first three put since then have scored just 2 in three straight road losses.

The Kings lost Anze Kopitar to a lower body injury in the first period against St. Louis. Kopitar is listed as day to day. The Kings have also played their last three games with Marian Gaborik who could be out until the playoffs with a knee injury. So the injuries are piling up while the scoring is not. Statistically the Kings have been impressive. They have been in every game except the 5-2 loss to the Islanders but even in that game they had 30 shots. Unfortunately, I have to start playing against them until they start find the back of the net again.

The Kings lack of offense doesn't come at a good time. Nashville has only allowed three goals in their last three games, including a 2-0 shut out of the Boston Bruins.

This was a classic Predator win. Get on too early, play good defense, kill penalties, and block shots. Probably the most complete effort from Nashville this season.

Nashville won four straight prior to the All-Star and now has received points in their last four contest. This Predator team has turned a corner although they are ways away from serious Cup consideration.

Pekka Rinne recorded his first shut out since November. Hopefully this will be a needed confidence boost for Rinne who has been average at best this year. There has been talk that Carter Huttin will start to see more starts.

Rinne is 2-0-1 in his last three starts against Los Angeles but his goals against average is not impressive (3.57) but a much better 1.26 goals against in his last three, at home, against the Kings.

Nashville defensemen, Ryan Ellis, has three goals and two assist in his last four games against the Kings.

The Predators now have a 68% chance of making the playoffs, last week it was in the 40's.

Los Angeles has lost three of their last four in Nashville and the lone win was in a shootout. The Kings have not won a game in seven attempts on one day's rest, now you figure in that it's the last game of a long road trip leaving me to question how much could possible be left in the tank.

The Kings are one of the best on the road (18-10-3) but the Bridgestone Arena has been tough for solid teams lately. In the Predators last 11 games vs. teams with a winning road record the Preds have won eight of the last 11 and have beaten the Kings five out of the last six games in the series.  We're backing Nashville with our NHL picks in this one, where they are favorites in the NHL odds boards.
