The NHL odds are out as the Tampa Bay Lightning (21-17-1; 14-21 ATS; 14-19 O/U) will travel to the Pepsi Center on Tuesday evening for a matchup versus the Colorado Avalanche (21-19-3; 26-17 ATS; 22-20 O/U). The Colorado Avalanche are hanging onto their playoff lives and come in tied for the final Western Conference Wild Card spot with 45 points. Patrick Roy’s squad will have its hands full trying to fend off the Predators and the rest of their Western Conference foes over the course of the season. Colorado has won each of the last six meetings at home against the Lighting and 10 of the last 13 meetings overall.

Will the Lightning Trade Droin, Stamkos?
The Tampa Bay Lightning are sitting just outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture after their 3-2 overtime win against the Vancouver Canucks. Tampa Bay has been at the center of several trade rumors this season. With Steven Stamkos likely to bolt in the offseason and former top-pick Jonathan Drouin request for a trade, it seems that GM Steven Yzerman could part with both players before the trade deadline passes. Yzerman has said that he is prepared to trade Drouin, but only if the deal is in the best interest of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The former 3rd-overall pick wants to get ice time in the NHL, but has been relegated to playing in the AHL since tallying just 2 points in 14 games after coming back from injury.

Avalanche Pull Varlamov in Loss to Blackhawks
The Colorado Avalanche snapped a three-game winning streak on Sunday, falling to the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks by the score of 6-3. Semyon Varlamov was pulled after Chicago’s fourth goal, as head coach Patrick Roy continues to do anything he can to get the goaltender some extra rest. Erik Johnson missed his second straight game with an undisclosed lower body injury. While the defenseman’s injury is not expected to be serious, Patrick Roy indicated he could be out up to 12 days. Colorado ranks 5th in the NHL in goals per game (2.9) and power play percentage (21.5%).

Trends for Tampa Bay:
0-6 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado
1-4 in their last 5 games following a win
2-9 in their last 11 vs. Central

Trends for Colorado:
9-2 in their last 11 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game
4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games
10-3 in their last 13 games following a loss of 3 or more goals

Betting Analysis
The home team has won 7 of the last 8 meetings in this series. Colorado has won four of their last five home games. The Avalanche could get a boost in this game if either Brad Stuart or Erik Johnson return from injury. For your NHL picks, look for Patrick Roy’s squad to get the job done at the Pepsi Center on Tuesday night.
