Anaheim Ducks vs Toronto Maple Leafs

The Holiday roster freeze starts tonight so the Leafs have made a move to bring up Frederik Gauthier from the Marlies while they deal with a couple injuries to Tyler Bozak and Ben Smith who are both day to day. Neither skated this morning.

With any injury, a team will have to take a player that they normally wouldn't want in a particular spot and move them there. Such is the case with William Nylander who will center the Leafs second line in place of Bozak. To move any piece around is troubling but losing a top two center is cause for more concern as it can effect linemate chemistry with Mitch Marner and James van Riemsdyk considering that this will be the first time Nylander would be asked to play center either of them.

Defensemen Jake Gardiner is a game-time decision for the Leafs but if he's out that would mean that Frank Corrado would play in only his second game.

The Ducks have been playing well lately as they own a 6-3-1 record in their last 10 games, sitting just two points out of first in the Pacific Division. Anaheim started the season 0-3-1 without a full roster but since Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rakell have returned the Ducks are 16-8-4. The Rakell line of Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf have been highly productive as of late.  Getzlaf has five points in his last four games while Rakell has averaged a point a game in his last 14 contest as has Perry in his last eight games.

Toronto will have to account for the Ryan Kesler, Jakob Silfverberg that has given the Ducks some offensive depth in the last few weeks.

Look for bettors to overreact to Leafs goaltender, Frederik Andersen's, first game against his old team which will drive the price up allowing us to take advantage of their mistake.  we've already started to see this as the Ducks opened as a -125 favorite, quickly bet up to -135.

Also, a cause for concern is the Ducks allowing six goals to the Detroit Redwings on Saturday in a 6-4 loss but history tells us that this isn't a fact to be taken serious tonight as Anaheim have bounced back to win eight straight games after allowing five goals or more in their previous game.
