Los Angeles have their sights set on top spot in the Pacific Division. Tonight could have the Kings take a huge step forward at the expense of the eliminated Vancouver Canucks. Here’s our NHL betting preview with NHL picks.

Los Angeles Kings (46-27-5)
Los Angeles Kings look to bounce back into the win column at Rogers Arena tonight when they take on the eliminated Vancouver Canucks. Predictably, the Kings enter this game as the whopping road favourites, trading anywhere from -185 to -200 on the NHL Odds depending on your choice sportsbook.

The Kings are coming off a 3-2 loss at home to the Dallas Stars, a clash marking two of the top teams in the West. It was a costly loss that set back the Kings in the Pacific Division standings and saw them slip to a so-so 5-5-0 mark in their last ten games.

Form in the last couple of weeks has been somewhat patchy with the Kings oscillating between a win and a loss in their last five games. Mid-march saw the Kings rise to the occasion with a four-game winning streak at the expense of Chicago (5-0), Dallas (5-2), NY Rangers (4-3 OT) and Boston (2-1). Then, all of a sudden, they regressed behind a three-game losing streak, marking one of their worst dips in form down the stretch. Losses to Nashville, Minnesota and Winnipeg.

Overall, the Kings boast a modest road record that stands at 21-15-3, underscored by a four-game losing streak on the road. Their last away win came at the expense of the Dallas Stars on March 15.

Vancouver Canucks (29-36-13)
The Vancouver Canucks are out of the playoffs behind one of their worst seasons in recent memory. As it is, they boast a 29-36-13 mark up to this point, which includes a surprisingly woeful 13-21-5 mark at home. Road form is a slightly better 16-15-8. By these stats, it’s no surprise the Canucks are priced at odds-against +170 to win straight up at home.

On the bright side, the Canucks are riding a two-game winning streak into this clash. This run of form includes a notable wins over San Jose and the Anaheim Ducks, albeit both those wins –a 4-2 win in the Shark tank and a 3-2 win at the Honda Center were road wins. Home form is something the Canucks continue to struggle transcending.

As it is, they are a discouraging 2-7-1 in their last ten games. More concerning, the Kings have been their kryptonite in recent seasons, including this term in which they boast a 1-3 SU mark in their head-to-head. The Canucks won the first meeting 3-0 in Los Angeles but, since then, they’ve lost three on the trot – 2-1 in OT in Los Angeles, 5-0 in Vancouver and 5-1 in Los Angeles. Indeed, the Canucks have failed to make any impression in this matchup since the one-off win.

NHL Betting Verdict
Given the contrasting fortunes of both sides on the season, it’s no surprise the market is cornered in Los Angeles’ camp. Sure, the Kings are riding poor form into this game especially on the road, but the Canucks don’t strike a convincing pose. They are there for the taking and the Kings fancy this matchup overall. As such, we can’t see past a road win here on our NHL Picks and we’re putting up the Kings as the choice NHL pick to win straight up at -185 at Pinnacle. We’d also consider a small wager on the OVER 5 in this game at -110 at Pinnacle.
