We’re going to examine the NHL game on Friday between Columbus and Chicago. Read our betting preview article in order to get all the answers you need to place your NHL picks tonight.
Blue Jackets at the United Center in Chicago
The Chicago Blackhawks will host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday at 8:35 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, Chicago is a -230 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. This will be the second meeting of the season between these teams, and Columbus was a 3-2 winner at home in the only other encounter. That result stayed under the total of 5.5.
Too little too late for Columbus
Although the Columbus Blue Jackets haven’t officially been eliminated from playoff contention, for all intents and purposes, they sealed their fate quite a while ago. Despite all that discouraging news, Columbus has played inspired hockey over the last couple of weeks. The Blue Jackets enter tonight winners of four in a row, and have taken seven of their previous eight games. They’ve averaged a robust 4.0 goals per game during those last eight contests. Columbus has also won six straight games on the road. As a matter of fact, the Jackets have gone 20-17 against the money line on the road this season, and $100 players have made a huge profit of $1440 by wagering on them in that role.
Blackhawks coasting down the Stretch
The Chicago Blackhawks have won nine of their previous thirteen games heading into tonight. They’re currently third in the Central Division, three points ahead of the fourth place Minnesota Wild, and five points behind the second place Nashville Predators. Chicago has yet to clinch a playoff spot. However, short of a complete meltdown in their last nine games, the uncertainty in that matter is very likely to be moot. Chicago hasn’t seen any of their previous five games go over the total, and have gone under the number just once in the last nine games. The Hawks return home for the first time since concluding a four game in eight day road trip which saw them go 2-2. Chicago has also gone through a goal scoring drought in recent games, scoring just a combined five times during its last four contests.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will be playing on two days rest tonight, and this will be just their fifth game in the last twelve days. Chicago will be playing on only one day rest, and that was preceded by an extended road trip. Tonight will also be Chicago’s sixth game in the last eleven days. I’m going to have a very small lean on the huge money line underdog in this game for one of my NHL picks.
NHL Pick: Play on Columbus +205 on the money line over Chicago at Pinnacle.
