The Wild are being offered as a generous +135 underdog in the released NHL Odds, I'll tell you why they will have better results tonight as the winning keeps on rolling.

No other way to describe our run to start the NHL season other than perfect.

We have now crushed six straight games and eight of our last nine after starting the season at 1-2.  Not saying we're going to hit 75% all season but I'm certainly happy to be building with house money, now standing at over 8 units. We're going to take a chance today as the game I really like is an early start so we won't be able to get that on the site quick enough. I'll give you that at the end in case you get a chance to bet it before the 12PT start.

Let's get a quick re-cap of betting trends so far in the league this season. Home favorites are still cashing tickets at an alarming rate (43-13-2, 74.14%) but keep in mind that today's home favorites carry a heavy price tag so the recommendation is to lay off because you have a responsibility to your bankroll and betting  -170 or -200 home teams is not fulfilling that responsibility.

Underdogs with the +1.5 are 55-21, 72.37%.

Again, the early trend is that home teams are winning but not covering the puck line.

The 'over' is still cashing tickets but it's getting closer as 39 of 68 games have gone over the total (57.35%). Remember, the win percentage may look impressive but when you're dealing with moneylines that cuts into your profit.

On to today's NHL Pick.

It's easy to see why the public loves the Islanders. The Wild played one good period of hockey against the Devils last night and were completely non-existent for the other two but despite that effort they still only dropped a 2-1 game in overtime on the road. The first period seems to be an issue for the Wild as they have taken just 25 shots over the first five games.

I have a lot of confidence in head coach Bruce Boudreau, so much that I think they will have a much better first-period effort in today's game, one in which I expect them to take an early lead.  Boudreau's teams have always played better with the lead, which goes for any team but his defensive style makes it difficult for teams to play catch-up.
