A jam-packed hockey betting menu is on the books for the weekend. We look at the action slated for Saturday and serve up choice NHL picks of the day.

NY Islanders vs. Carolina Hurricanes
NY Islanders are riding a three-game winning streak, improving to 6-3-1 in their last ten games. Overall, they are 29-18-6 on the season, which includes an 18-8-3 mark at home and an 11-10-3 mark on the road. They’ll be looking to keep the winning streak going today when they descend on the Carolina Hurricanes. By all accounts, there’s a good chance they will.

Islanders are coming off an impressive 5-2 win over the LA Kings. Prior to that they beat the Oilers by a whopping 8-1 and edged Columbus 3-2in a shootout. The Hurricanes are riding two-game losing streak, slipping to 4-3-3 in their last ten games. They lost back-to-back shootouts with the Canadiens and Penguins 2-1. Overall, they are a disappointing 24-21-10 on the season with a 12-9-6 record at home and a 12-12-4 record on the road.

Washington Capitals vs. Dallas Stars
Washington Capitals are riding a five-game winning streak into today’s date with the Dallas Stars. They’ll be looking to make it six in a row and if the NHL odds were any indication they do have a shot. As it is, they are trading as the road faves but only nominally so – a range of -105 to -120 NHL odds depending on your sportsbook of choice.

Overall, the Capitals are 40-9-4 on the season, which includes a 20-4-2 mark at home and a 20-5-2 mark on the road. They are 7-2-1 in their last ten games. The Dallas Stars (35-15-5) aren’t going to be pushovers. They are riding a two-game winning streak, improving to 6-3-1 in their last ten games. Importantly, the Stars have a solid 19-7-0 record at home they’ll be looking to better at the expense of the league’s standard.

By all accounts, this should be a close and hard fought game. There are angles for profit on both sides of the coin for your NHL picks. It’s not unreasonable to assume the Stars will come through for their backers. But given how well the Capitals are playing, we’ve just got to go with them on our NHL picks.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks
The Ducks are coming off a loss while the Blackhawks have lost two in a row. Something is going to have to give when this pair collides in the windy city tonight.

Anaheim are 26-19-6 on the season, which includes a 16-8-4 mark at home and a 10-11-4 mark on the road. Although they lost their last encounter they are 7-2-1 in their last ten games, which augurs well ahead of their date with the defending Stanley Cup champions who appear to be enjoyed mixed fortunes at the moment. The Blackhawks lead the Western Conference with a 36-18-4 mark, but recent form is just 5-5-0 in their last ten games. Home form though is nothing to sniff at with aa 21-7-1 record.

By all accounts, Chicago are the favorites to win trading anywhere from -135 to -145 on the NHL odds board. For our money, we do fancy the Ducks to mastermind the upset tonight as the nominal underdogs. Best price is available right now at Bookmaker where the Ducks are priced at +142 NHL odds.
