Time to cue up the NHL odds for another day on the ice with more hockey action. Yesterday went mostly as expected, but one aspect has plagued us with recent plays we cannot control.

Midday on Monday, Boston was already a dwindling home favorite and when news came down the Bruins were going to start backup Jonas Gustavsson in goal, they slipped to -150. This proved prophetic as Columbus offense exploded for six goals and even two power plays, handing Boston yet another home loss and our lone defeat of the day.

Still pleased to make it six of seven winning days and against the NHL odds we have two sides and total to fire up for Tuesday action, with the top play first.

Tampa Bay Wards Off Arizona
No, I am not picking on Arizona (27-32 SU) making them my top choice for NHL picks to bet against two nights in a row, it is just who they are playing. In fact, watched a fair amount of their game versus Washington last night and only because of the Capitals having a couple more skilled scorers and a more veteran goaltender was Washington able to escape 3-2.

Tampa Bay (33-26 SU) was playing similar last season to what the Caps are this campaign and they are very capable of playing at a high level. This is especially true now that Steven Stamkos has started scoring again after a long drought. The Lightning have struck for 14 goals on past three games, all wins and ended 0-18 dry spell on the power play Sunday at Carolina. Arizona gave up another power play goal last night and has fallen to 28th in penalty killing, which could help Tampa Bay even more.

The Lightning are chalky favorites and have taken 12 of 16 over the Coyotes are 35-16 at home versus club with a losing road record.

Nashville's Offense Come to Life at Toronto
The Predators are .500 in their last eight contests and have played four consecutive Under's, not being able to score, but at least being sound defensively. Nashville (28-32 SU) at the moment would be a playoff team, however, totaling seven goals in four games is not going to help you win many games, even if you only permit six.

The Predators are on ideal situation to bust out at Toronto (20-37 SU) in middle tilt of three-game road trip. In losing six of seven, which includes the past three, the Maple Leafs defense has been slower than lines at Starbucks complaining about new rewards program. Toronto fans and backers are also complaining about the Leafs defense, which has been burned for 4.7 goals a game during this period.

Nashville is a -140 away favorite and has the 11th best power play and Toronto is 5-30 against foes with 17.5 percent or higher man advantage scoring rate in the second half of the season the last couple years.

Play Over in Winnipeg
Going to try to keep this real simple and basic. When Dallas goes on the road this season, the average total score of one their games is 6.3. When Winnipeg plays at the MTS Centre, the average total ends up being 5.8 and the sportsbooks have released a total of 5.5 on this conflict.

The Stars are looser defensively then the pants MC Hammer used to wear and with the Jets 24th in scoring defense and 27th in penalty killing, they are not exactly like the old school song by Archie Bell and the Drells - "Tighten Up". (Google it) Plus, these two squads have a history of scoring on each other, with 10 of the past 13 contests in Winnipeg resulting in OVER's.

With Dallas 11-3 OVER after allowing six goals or more and Winnipeg 15-6 OVER after playing a game where four or fewer total goals were rung up, not hard to figure the right total.
