The minutes this line went to 5.5 we have seen the public running to the window to jump on the ‘over’ but champion handicapper says to shop for a six and grab the ‘under’.

Tonight, we glide into the PPG Paints Arena  in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the injured Philadelphia Flyers take on the equally banged up Pittsburgh Penguins at 7:00 ET/4:00 PT. The Keystone rivalry can be seen on NBC.

We saw the opening number on this ‘total’ open at 6 but quickly bet down to 5.5, which I agree with.  The good news for us is we can still get a 6 if we do a little shopping.

For the Pittsburgh Penguins it’s not a secret the amount of injuries they’ve had to deal with over the last couple of months. Evgeni Malkin, Carl Hagelin, Kris Letang, Jake Guentzel, Trevor Daly, Olli Maatta, and Ron Hainsey are part of the Pittsburgh injury parade that you would have thought would stop the Penguins march toward the Metro Division title.  The Pens have managed to go 8-3-1 in their last 12 games but you can see the injuries are taking their toll on the Pittsburgh depth and cohesion as they trail the Caps by three points for the top spot.

Even though the season series has been split, earlier this month the Flyers found a way to hold Pittsburgh scoreless on their way to a 4-0 victory.

The Flyers, most likely, will not be participating in the postseason but you look for opportunities to find the Flyers in a state of motivation.  With this being an instate rivalry game I expect an above average defensive effort from Dave Hakstol’s team.

Hakstol has been making some line movements in hopes in inspiring the Flyers to give a better offensive effort which it did against Minnesota but this was a Wild team that the Flyers have always matched up well against.

I’m anticipating another defensive game and I’m more than happy to shop for a six to get that extra half goal even though I won’t be getting plus money.
