After a 4 game losing streak, the Philadelphia Flyers have certainly worked themselves out of the playoffs. Tonight, they have the unenviable task of facing a defensive-oriented Blackhawks team that has been on fire at 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. Philly has one thing going for them. They're 20-9-6 at home. Are the Blackhawks a good fade as we should see the Flyers at a nice betting price?

Face-off is set for 8:00 tonight at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 5 Dimes Sportsbook list the Blackhawks as a -160 betting favorite and the total for the game is 5 goals on the NHL betting odds. As stated before, the one thing that Philly has in their favor is that they play exceptionally well at home and this game could possibly have upset written on it. Let's see who's in net?

Starting Goalies
Everything is unconfirmed, but we could see a Corey Crawford vs. Steve Mason matchup at the goaltender position. Mason has actually played well, but the wins haven't been coming easily for him.

He's 14-17-10 with a 2.28 GAA and more importantly.925 SV%. This game is really on the Flyers offense because I've mentioned it many times in articles; Corey Crawford always puts the Blackhawks, who are 2nd in the league in defense, in a good position to win their respective games.

Reasons To Fade Chicago
After a 5-4 loss to Edmonton, Flyers leading scorer, Jakub Voracek keeps producing as he's simply an assist machine. This set up man is coming off of a 3 assist effort and in his last 9 games, has 2 goals and 6 assists. He's one pace for an 80 point season. If he were a prolific goal scorer, Voracek could go for 100 points, but Philadelphia will definitely take this kind of production. Against the Blackhawks,a goal could be the difference in the hockey game.

One player to watch in this game is center man, Claude Giroux. In his last 2 games, Giroux has potted 3 goals and in the month of March, has 3 goals and 5 assists. The combination of Giroux and Wayne Simmonds, who leads the Flyers in goals, can be very deadly. The 4 game losing streak scares me, but this team is far from being a pushover and the Blackhawks will get very little rest. Philly should be ready at home tonight.

Jonathan Toews
I talked about him Monday and he proceeded to score an assist and I'm going to talk about him today. Jonathan Toews has been unstoppable this month. He has 4 goals and 6 assists in his last 9 games and in his last matchup against the Flyers, had a goal. He's a nice +27 when he's on the ice and I expect him to be a factor yet again in tonight's game.

Although he's been invisible as of late, Patrick Kane has been the leader for the Blackhawks with 27 goals and 37 assists on the season. He's faired very well against the Blackhawks in their previous matchup as he scored 2 goals. If indeed, Kane wakes up, this could be a high scoring affair, but I'm looking for Philly to play spoiler at home as they've dominated on home ice

Make this a small bet as the Blackhawks aren't a team to be faded that often, but in this case, I'm going to play with fire and take the Flyers with my NHL picks.

NHL Pick: Philadelphia Flyers +142 at 5Dimes.
