Our resident NHL handicapper will be sharing his two top totals of the night in this betting preview article. Find out why he loves the totals in the games between Chicago/Philadelphia and Dallas/Calgary by reading his insights on each contest.

Chicago Blackhawks vs, Philadelphia Flyers 8:05 PM ET
According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, the total in this game is 5.0. This will be the second meeting of the season between these teams, and Chicago was a 4-0 winner at home in the first encounter.

Blackhawks Totals Report
The Chicago Blackhawks have gone under the total in the last four, seven of the previous eight, and have gone over the total in only five of their last twenty-four games (20.8%). It’s not been unusual at all for Chicago to be involved in a low scoring game on the road this season. They’ve seen just nine of thirty-six (25%) road games go over the number during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign. Cory Crawford is slated to be in goal for Chicago this evening. Crawford has seen just three of his eighteen starts go over the total when facing Eastern Conference opponents, and he’s posted an outstanding .937 save percentage in those outings.

Flying Low
The Philadelphia Flyers have seen just six of their previous twenty-four games (25%) go over the total. The Flyers have scored one goal or less in five of their previous seven games. Philadelphia is coming off a 5-4 loss at Edmonton in their previous game. The Flyers have seen eight of nine games go under the total this season after allowing five goals or more in their previous contest. Steve Mason is slated to be in goal tonight for the Flyers, and he’s compiled a superb .941 save percentage in his previous four starts.

NHL Totals Betting System
The Philadelphia Flyers return home for the first time since concluding a horrible 0-4 road trip. Chicago was a 3-1 winner at Carolina in their previous game. The combination of those results qualifies for a very profitable totals system, and I’ll utilize that betting angle when making my NHL picks for Wednesday.

Any home team (Philadelphia) with a total of 5.0 or less, coming off two or more road losses in a row, versus an opponent (Chicago) coming off a road win in their previous game, has seen that home team go under the total in 49 of those 74-games (66.2%) since 1996.

NHL Pick:  Chicago and Philadelphia to go under the total of 5.0 at Pinnacle.

Dallas Stars vs. Calgary Flames 10:05 PM ET
According to the NHL betting odds at 5Dimes, the posted total in this game is 5.0. These two teams have seen seven of their last eight meetings go over the total. As a matter of fact, just one of the previous fifteen (6.6%) encounters between these clubs has gone under the number.

Home and Away Splits favor a High Score
The Calgary Flames are averaging 3.1 goals per game at home this season. Dallas is averaging 3.2 goals per contest on the road. The Stars are also allowing an average of 3.3 goals per game on the road, and have seen 21 of their 35 away games (60%) go over the total this season.

Recent Goal Scoring
Dallas has scored exactly four goals in six of their previous eight games. Calgary has scored three goals or more in eight of their last eleven games.

NHL Pick:  Dallas and Calgary to go over the total of 5.5 at 5Dimes.
