The Anaheim Ducks took it to the Calgary Flames for a second straight game and ended up with a win. Can the Flames change the momentum in this series and cash on the NHL betting lines in Game 3?

The Anaheim Ducks Can Win Because…
They have dominated this series from top to bottom, which is why they're the favorites on the posted NHL odds. On the offensive end, the Ducks have now scored nine goals through two games. Their stars have shown up in a big way as the Flames have had no answer for Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. Again, both players dominated Game 2 and they both finished with two points. Beyond that, the Ducks have outshot the Flames both games, outhit them and won the matchup in the faceoff circle.

Meanwhile, the defensive end is where the Ducks aren’t getting enough credit. They’ve held the Flames to just two goals so far and goaltender Frederik Andersen has been outstanding. So far this postseason, he’s had one game where he gave up four goals but in the other five games, he’s allowed two goals or less (five goals in total). He has an incredible .981 save percentage in this series and a very good .942 save percentage for the playoffs. The Ducks are playing smart as they’ve only taken three penalties each game but they’ve managed to kill off every single one of the Flames power plays. While Andersen is shining, so is the Ducks defensive performance in front of him.

Anaheim is just in complete control of this series and Calgary has no answers. They are a young team that is shell-shocked right now and even though they’ll have the crowd on their side, it’s hard to see anything else changing for them. The Ducks are the smarter choice for your NHL picks here.

The Calgary Flames Can Win Because…
They are back at home. Although the Flames don’t have many advantages in terms of tangible things – offense, defense, etc. – they do have a stellar home crowd that can give them a confidence boost. Yes, the young Flames are completely overmatched in this series and yes, they haven’t looked good at all. However, the crowd is going to be jacked up tonight and they are going to give the Flames a lot of love.

Game 3 will be Calgary’s best effort, which is key because they haven’t played well in Games 1 and 2. They have plenty of room for improvement and they are going to play with desperation. They know that this series is over if they don’t shape up, so look for Game 3 to be their best effort yet.

Outlook
Anaheim should win Game 3 but I’m expecting an under. Calgary’s offense simply isn’t doing anything and defensively, they know they better play airtight hockey or they’ll be facing an 0-3 deficit very shortly. Look for the Ducks to play conservatively to start as they weather the storm for the first 10 or 20 minutes, and then look for Game 3 to be a low-scoring affair.
