It’s not too often that we see a 5 posted when either of these teams play but because of injuries and the superb play of Marc-Andre Fleury we see the low number but NHL analyst Dana Lane says to still jump on the ‘under’.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Washington Capitals

The public got word that Sidney Crosby and Conor Sheary were back at practice and they rush to the window to bet game five ‘over’, especially when the bookmakers bait their clients with a number like five.  Numerous reports are that neither had any limitations at practice but that doesn’t translate into either one seeing ice time in game five.

This is Crosby’s fourth concussion with three of them coming against the Capitals.  There is no way I allow either Crosby or Sheary to play tonight but this play is solid no matter what happens.

If one or both play it will take some time to return to game speed knowing we can anticipate that neither player will be 100%. If they don’t play then the Pens will be without one of the top players in the world along with a key depth guy.  Win/win for our ticket.

A final update on their status will be after Saturdays’ practice.

My followers will need a better effort from Capitals goaltender Bradon Holtby who’s save percentage is just .867 against the Penguins.  His counterpart, Marc-Andre Fluery, owns a .937 save percentage, a number that will win your team a cup. If you remember back to the series against Toronto, this is the time when Holtby started to heat up allowing 2 goals in games five and six combined. Fleury has won seven of his last nine starts.

Besides goaltending I want to make sure that I won’t get beat with a couple special teams goals.  The Capitals need to stay out of the box to give us an easier win but so far it’s not like the Penguins have cashed in on those chances going just 2-15 in the series.  Regardless, the more five on five play the better for our wager.

The Capitals scoring depth has been non-existent as Andre Burakovsky, Tom Wildon, and Lars Eller still have not contributed to the Capitals scoring.
