The Oilers dropped their biggest game of the season last night, against the Ducks, to fall out of second place in the Pacific. Champion handicapper Dana Lane expects a slower pace in a game the Oilers can’t lose.

Another winner for my followers last night pushed our season total to 80 wins as we look to finish off another winning hockey season. At this point, my goal is to get my readers to the +20 unit mark and 90 overall wins.  Over 79% of all wagers taken on the Rangers, Islanders total was on the ‘over’ as both the public and professionals lost but not us.

Tonight, we head to the Pepsi Center where the Avalanche and Oilers collide at 9:00 ET/6:00 PT. This is the second of back to back games for the Oilers. Despite last night’s results, the Oilers are still holding on to a wild-card spot in the West.

It appears that we’re going against the public again as 76% of all tickets written have come in on the ‘over’ but professional money is on the ‘under’ pushing the number from -110 to -120 shaded to the ‘under’ but it appears that books are starting to get some buy back money so bet this one as soon as possible.

The best ‘under’ number we can find at SBR approved Sportsbooks is 5.5 -118 at Matchbook, who consistently offers solid NHL odds is offering a sweet cash back promotion now.

I’m not sure where the public thinks the goals are going to come from but this Avalanche team is 30th in points per game, 27th in special teams scoring, and 28th in shots on goal. It has to be a special occasion for me to use the Avalanche on an ‘over’ ticket.

First, the Oilers put a lot of emphasis on last night’s game against the Ducks so it’s hard to imagine that they’ll match that intensity level against the league’s worst team.

Secondly, Edmonton goaltender Cam Talbot was pulled from last night’s game after allowing a fourth goal which is good news for our bet because I would expect a better effort especially against a team that won’t put a lot of pressure on Talbot.  We could be looking at a shutout scenario putting our bet in a great position to cash.  Don’t forget how much of a groove Talbot was in after two straight shutouts before allowing four goals on just 18 shots last night.

Let’s get to the window and put down a one unit play on tonight’s game to go ‘under’ 5.5.
